Mercedes' P.O.V

I waited until Meliah walked out the door. She and I both knew where this conversation was going to lead. "What are you doing here?" my mom asked. "Unfortunately, I still live here. Although the same can't really be said for you. You've been gone for hours." I said, the anger in my voice cutting through the air. "I don't know who the fuck you think you're talking to. Last time I checked, I'm the parent in this house." she said, trying to brush me off. "Could've fooled me." I mumbled. "Oh, look who's trying to be all high and mighty." she turned around. "What you think you bad now? Huh? You decided to open your damn legs and become a mother before you can even graduate and now you think you know how to parent." she yelled. "I know enough from not following you!" I snapped back. "Oh girl please. What you think because that lil nigga got money and some hooping skills, he gone take care of you?! You ain't nothing but high school pussy! He gone forget about you by the time you walk across the damn stage." she laughed out loud. "You know what...I don't even know why I waste my time with you." I said shaking my head. "Girl fuck you! Go ahead and run back to your little friend and her folks. Like they actually care about you?!?" "THEY CARE MORE THAN YOU DO?!!" I got louder. "Don't nobody give a damn about you. And when you go off to school you gone see that. You gone end up right back in this house." she said, pushing past me. "No. I won't." I said. "Where you gone go then? Huh? Who gone want you and that baby? Nobody." she said. "It doesn't matter. Because you don't care either way. And since when have you? I don't know why I'm even wasting my breath talking to you because you never change. If it wasn't for my siblings I wouldn't even be back here." I said. "Don't worry about my damn kids. You need to worry about your own fucking child. Now get out my damn house." she said and walked away. I stood there, the anger in me wanting to tear that house apart. But I wasn't about to put my siblings through it. Not again. I bit my tongue and walked out the front door. Meliah was resting on the side of the car. I walked quickly to the car. She stopped me and held my shoulders. I tried to hold it in but I couldn't. I cried in my best friend's arms standing in front of my mother's house. She held me and let me release all my emotions. After a while, I was able to stop my tears from falling. "You good?" Meliah asked. "I think so." I said. "Are you sure? Because if we need to sit a little longer, we can." she told me.

Man, I love this girl

"No, I think I'm good. Let's just get out of here." I said walking around the side of the car. We got in and drove back towards her house.

JaMeliah's P.O.V

We got back to the house just in time for dinner. "Oh something smells good in here." I called out as we walked inside. "Y'all made it back just in time." my mama called from the kitchen. "Hey, I'm going to go put the bags into the room. I'll be right back." Mercedes said. "Okay, we'll be in the kitchen." I said dropping my keys by the door. I walked into the kitchen just as my mama was taking the last dish out the oven. "You made it back just in time to help set the table." she said. As I was grabbing plates there was a knock at the door.

Now who is that?

"I got it." I said. I walked to the front door and looked through the peephole.

Oh crap.

Tayvion stood outside on the porch.

I forgot I told him we would hang out tonight.

I opened the door. "Hey, I am so sorry. I should've texted you earlier. We had to go get DJ and it slipped my mind." I explained. "Nah, you're good. I figured you were sidetracked. You can do that a lot." he joked. I smiled up at him. "Well, do you want to come in for dinner? I can set another plate." I offered. "If that's okay with your folks, I wouldn't mind." he said with a smile. "Of course not. You know they love you." I said pulling him in. "Who was that at the do- Oh, hey Tay!" my mother said, walking around the corner. "You joining us for dinner?" she asked. "I guess so." he said. "Heeeeeeeey Tay." Cede said walking around the corner with her baby on her hip and giving me a look. "Well come on in here and help set this table." my mama started ordering. I shook my head. "Come on." I said, grabbing his hand.
