It's Christmas Eve and I'm all decked out. From head to toe.
...And I think I might be drowning in misery as we speak.
"Oh, just look at him Daz!" My mom gushes, the flashes on her phone blinding me.
"You're torturing him, beloved." He says gently, giving me an apologetic look.
It's true. I'm here against my will as she takes millions of pictures of me in a reindeer onesie, antlers headband, and a red painted nose.
"Help me." My voice comes out as dry as the driest desert, eyes pleading. I'm sure my soul has already left my body.
"You two are so dramatic." She takes one last picture before I quite literally yank off the headband.
"Come on, we need to get going." My dad steered my mom by the shoulders towards the door.
"Hold on, let me get the fruit salad!" My mom rushes back to the kitchen.
I zip down the onesie so it stopped at my waist, letting my arms free. I tied the sleeves around so there was a knot in the front, my plain red t-shirt in view. I fix my hair and follow my parents as they turn off all the lights in the entrance.
We were actually kind of late.
The Trujillo's were having a Christmas party with their extended family, and they invited us over like they have every year.
