"hey, ______, couldn't you get that freak to get chrissy something? she tells me she's struggling a lot and you seem to be smitten with him," the cheerleader laughed as you sighed, resting your chin in the palm of your hand as your eyes looked over at eddie's table. you had admired him for so long, dustin knew. dustin knew everything you thought practically, he had known you for only a few months but he could just feel it every time you were around eddie.

the cheerleaders weren't wrong, but admitting it aloud to everybody around you seemed insane. you weren't meant for the cliche of love- to be with jason, practically.

you wanted eddie "the freak" munson as the school called him. he wasn't a freak in your eyes, he was soft spoken and kind. he was gentle. he was hilarious in a dorky way, he was an angel sent to be yours.

"_____," jason said as he took a seat next to you, causing you to shift your gaze and look over at him.

"yeah?" you asked, seemingly forced out of your body.

"can i talk to you for a moment?" he asked as your eyes hesitantly shifted to eddie's table once more before standing up. jason followed after you, slipping his hand into yours as he pulled you out of the cafeteria.

eddie looked up, watching you the entire time.
-

"is it true?"

"is what true?" you played dumb, leaning against the lockers as jason got closer to you. you could feel the anger seeping off his body and into yours. you didn't want him to know but you couldn't go on dating him. you despised him.

"don't play dumb. you like that prick?" he asked.

you sighed, looking down the hallway.

"jason, where the hell are you getting this information?"

"from your friends," he replied. "our friends. why would they feel the need to lie about this? do you like him? the freak?"

you smiled up at him, something that always calmed him down you had discovered. his eyes were gleaming with anger as you tried to soothe him back down into calm and serenity.

"jason," you began, the name tasting bitter in your mouth. "look. if you're going to act like this, then maybe we shouldn't be together."

"act like what, _____? because from what i see you don't want to be with me to begin with! i love you!"

the words rattled you, causing the heart beating in your chest to skip a couple beats momentarily.

"you love me?"

he nodded, his hand resting into your hair as he tried to bring you closer to him. his eyes were staring into yours as he smiled back at you. however, when he leaned down to kiss you, you turned your head.

"jason, i'm sorry," you replied.

"oh, so this son of a bitch gets your love and attention but i don't? i've loved you for two years, ______! what the hell!"

he let go of you, stepping back as he hit your shoulder on the way out of the hallway and back into the cafeteria.

you leaned your head back against the cool lockers, feeling a few tears slip out of your eyes and roll down your cheeks. the sound of the door opening and six guys walking out of the cafeteria caused you to quickly wipe away your tears and clear your throat, trying to settle yourself down.

"i'll meet you guys down there," you heard him say.

you knew who it was before you even looked at him.

"hey, you okay?"

your eyes looked up and met his.

eddie munson.
