you had decided to stay over at eddie's that night, sitting up in his bed as he laid beside you. you were staring off into his bedroom, your legs tucked up near your chest as you looked over at your boyfriend. your mind was going over yesterday night, about what had happened, and you couldn't sleep with it gnawing at your mind.

you got up, walking over to his desk as you began to search through the bottom desk drawer. you shifted something, looking over to see if it woke eddie up, and you saw him still laying calmly on the bed. you went back to searching for it, your fingers finding it as you pulled it out.

his letter from you.

you had given it to him after your first date and it was something special to the both of you. you slid the basket back to where it went and walked out of his bedroom and towards the couch on the other side of the trailer. you sat down, opening it as you read over the sentences you had written to him so long ago.

it was calming you, rereading the penciled words painted on the sheet of paper as your eyes studied the words you used. you let out a sigh, thinking about the words before hearing eddie's voice in front of you.

"jesus, you scared me," you told him, your eyes watching him as he came over and sat down next to you on the couch as he laid his head down in your lap, looking up at you and taking the letter from you.

"how did you find it?" he asked. "it's my most prized possession, besides my guitar," he muttered, refolding it back up and holding  onto it as you smiled down at him sweetly, running your fingers through his hair.

"i know you, munson," you muttered. there was brief silence between the two of you, eddie holding the letter tightly as you took note, looking back at him. "eddie, the moment won't stop replaying in my mind and it's driving me insane. i thought that getting it off my chest would help, but it just didn't. i can't stop thinking about it."

eddie sighed, the silence settling thickly in between the two of you.

"i'm sorry," you muttered.

"do you think of him every time we kiss?" he asked.

"i think of it momentarily," you admitted softly.

he sat up, looking at you as you felt yourself getting teary. you shook your head, taking the letter from him as you opened it and began reading it again while eddie looked at you with such adoration. you were so scared that he was going to break up with you, which you would understand because of it. but you were not leaving eddie that easily because gareth screwed it up.

"_______, look at me," he said softly, seeing your eyes reluctantly looking away from your words on the page. when your eyes found his, he leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to yours. you closed your eyes in comfort, your hands still holding the letter. when eddie let go, he pulled you into his arms as he kept you close.

"i'm talking to gareth tomorrow," he muttered into your hair as you leaned back into his hold. you rest your head under his chin, still holding the letter in your hands. "i have to."

you nodded, nudging his chin with your head as you looked up at him.

"can we sleep here?"

he nodded, his arms still holding you close still as you set the letter down and closed your eyes, leaning back onto him as you fell asleep.

"guys, she told him. i know she did, she said she would," gareth said to his friends at his table as mike shrugged.

"she sticks to her promises usually, so, yeah, probably. but also, gareth," he continued. "you're the dumb oaf who kissed our dungeon master's girlfriend, so i mean."

dustin nodded, laughing a little as he noticed you walking into the cafeteria, holding a folded sheet of paper in your hand as you passed the table and went over to where robin was, taking a seat next to her as you held the paper still. dustin took notice before turning around to see eddie walking over to the table.

"prepare yourself, gareth," dustin muttered as he approached the table.

"shit, shit, shit," he mumbled.

"gareth the great, we need to talk."

gareth turned around, looking over at eddie as he gave him a brief, nervous smile and stood up to follow him past the table you sat down at before exiting the cafeteria. you saw him leave with gareth, so you stood up as robin went to go get ready for the pep rally and walked over to where the other hellfire club members were.

"i know you all heard what happened," you muttered, taking gareth's previous seat. dustin, mike, and jeff all nodded slowly in understanding before the silence settled over the entire table.

"what's the note, ________?" dustin asked. your eyes briefly met his before looking back down at it.

"it's something between me and eddie," you muttered softly as dustin and mike exchanged a glance.
-

"so, gareth, this is what's going to happen. i'm going to talk, and you're going to listen, okay?"

gareth nodded slowly, taking in what he just said and trying to prepare himself for what was coming next.

"you kissed my girlfriend and you didn't tell me about it. i mean, it happened over twenty four hours ago and you didn't tell me but she did? you would assume that after the years that we've been friends, you could be honest with me. and on top of that, you would assume that since you've been one of my closest friends for so many years that you wouldn't kiss my girlfriend! i honestly don't want to hear any excuse you could have made for why you did what you did, but i need you to know that i'm really upset about this," eddie said, staring at his friend with a gleam of anger in his eyes. he never held resentment against people, he always hated that idea. so, this was different for him. he was so different whenever it came to you.

gareth stood still for a moment, debating on telling him anything or not. he debated on doing so. he needed to tell him how he was feeling and what was going on that night and why. he didn't care if eddie didn't want to hear an excuse, he needed to tell him.

"do you realize how hard it is to resist her when you just casually send your girlfriend over to my house at night to get something you could have gotten yourself the next day? you can't just send a beautiful girl over to my house and think i wouldn't be entranced with her or some shit," gareth retorted. "eddie, she was the first person i started to like and seeing you and her together hurt for a while, but i thought i was done. but that night, it was like something came over me and i couldn't help myself. my god, she just looked so pretty."

eddie shook his head, looking off down the hallway as he tried to comprehend what gareth was saying.

"so, not only are you admitting to liking her but you're also blaming me for you kissing her? i don't think i asked you to kiss her, and i thought i could trust you with her, gareth!" he replied, causing gareth to sigh and shake his head.

"you don't understand what she does to me," he said as eddie shook his head this time, trying to ignore what gareth was telling him. it was something he didn't want to hear, especially from one of his closest friends at school. somebody he thought he could trust with everything, including you, had been compromised and changed everything.

"i do now that you've kissed her," he said, his eyes staring coldly into gareth's. "i mean, come on, man. i thought i could trust you, and i thought you understood that."

"if you hadn't of sent her over to my house late at night looking as good as she did, maybe we wouldn't be talking about this."

"i was sending her over to get something for me, not for you to make a free pass at her!" he retorted, shaking his head as he began to open the door back to the gym. "i don't care how good she looked, i don't care that you've liked her for a long time, i don't care if you think i'm stupid for letting her get something for me, it doesn't outweigh what the hell you did."

he opened the door, walking inside the room and back over to where you were as he took a seat next to you, resting his hand on yours and you could feel him shaking. your eyes looked over at him, observing how his were glued to the door.

"munson," you said softly, catching his attention. "i'm right here."

he nodded, intertwining his hand with yours as his palm rest on the back of his hand still.
