Isabella's POV
We reached the base, and as soon as the car stopped, I stepped out. Deckard followed close behind. I wasted no time changing into black pants, a fitted shirt, and my leather jacket. My hair was pulled up in a tight ponytail, and I slid my comm into my ear. I needed to be focused.
Deckard changed as well and entered the room, watching me carefully. "How are you feeling?" he asked.
I met his gaze. "I'm just happy to have you back with me."
He walked closer, his expression unreadable. "That's not what I mean, Isa. You haven't said a word about Dom, Mia, Brian, or Letty. What happened?"
I sighed, crossing my arms. "I don't know how to feel about Dom. I wish there wasn't a war between my brother and my husband. But he got what he deserved." My voice hardened slightly. "Mia is a whole other story. Talking to my therapist helped me realize that maybe I didn't fully understand how they felt. But the way they handled things? That was wrong. I called Mia, tried to work things out, and she got mad at me. So yeah, I'm sad, but at least I have you, Brian, Letty, Jakob, and your mum." I softened slightly. "By the way, she wants you to call her."
Deckard gave me a small smile. "I know I put you in a hard place with your family. The hurt will fade with time."
I held his gaze. "I hope so. But for now, we have to work with them."
Deckard groaned. "I will—for you. But I can't believe I have to work with them, especially Hobbs."
I rolled my eyes. "Well, once we're done, we can go home and start a family."
Deckard's expression softened, and he reached for my hand. "Nothing would make me happier."
We walked through the base together until we reached the briefing room. I stepped through the doors first, giving Deckard the space to make his dramatic entrance. Mr. Nobody smiled at me before addressing the room. "I bet you all know Isabella Shaw."
Dom's team stared at me, and the first to speak was Little Nobody. "Sir, she tried to kill them. Why is she helping us?"
I was getting real tired of this guy. He only knew what the files told him.
I turned to him, unimpressed. "Listen, Puppy Nobody, I stood with my husband over my family because they went after someone I care about—my brother-in-law. My so-called family hasn't treated me like family since Dom kicked my twin out. They think they're saints for stopping Owen, but do they really know what happened? They put him in a coma, burned his arms and face, and nearly killed him. So yeah, I'm mad at them. And I'm sure they're mad at me. But you? You should stay the hell out of my family business."
Little Nobody shut up real fast, looking at the others for backup. No one said a word.
Mr. Nobody stepped in. "Enough. You don't question her about her family drama—that's her business."
But Little Nobody wasn't done. "No, sir. She tried to kill them."
I rolled my eyes. "You know what, Puppy Nobody? I don't give two fucks about your opinion of me or my husband. And for the record, I didn't kill Han. Decks did—and he already feels bad enough about it. You can't excuse Dom's actions, either. Now, I'm not here to trade fire with you because you're acting like a child. I just want to finish this, go home, and start a family with the man who actually loves me. I am not here for your little wars. The only reason I'm here is to stop Dom—or save him—and take down Cipher. For my future kids."
Little Nobody sat down, silent. I smirked.
Mr. Nobody continued the briefing, showing a photo of Dom on the screen. The team looked shocked, some upset. Whatever had made Dom turn his back on them had to be big.
I added, "Cipher is bad news. There's only one family who has ever survived going against her."
Letty, Hobbs, and the others turned to me. "Who?"
I met their gazes. "My husband and I knew more about Cipher than you do".
Dom's team paled, like they'd been hit with reality.
"I'm not going to tell you what Cipher did to my husband or my family. All you need to know is if you cross her, you either die—or you work for her."
Little Nobody muttered, "Mr. and Mrs. Shaw both know how to deal with Cipher."
Letty looked at me, hurt. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"There was no time, and not everything you read in a file is true. I'm focused on figuring out why Dom did this and stopping Cipher—again."
Mr. Nobody cut in. "Dom's already delivered a fully operational EMP into her hands. She can turn any city into a war zone."
Tej exhaled. "So what are you suggesting?"
"Find Dom. First, we need to catch him and figure out why he turned."
Roman looked defeated. "That's impossible."
I smirked. They weren't going to like what came next.
Mr. Nobody confirmed it. "Which is why I'm bringing in an extra pair of hands."
The doors opened, and Deckard walked in. My smirk turned into a smile as I joined him.
Hobbs groaned. "Ah, my day just got a whole lot worse. Mr. Nobody, why'd you put me in a room with this tea-and-crumpets-eating criminal?"
Deckard kept his cool. "Big mouth for such a small head. Coming from prisoner 6753."
Letty added, "Don't think we've forgotten everything you two have done."
I shot back, "Like we've forgotten what you did?"
Tej glared. "We're not teaming up with this guy."
I rolled my eyes. "Well, guess what, Tej? We don't want to work with you, either."
Deckard's voice was cold. "Let's get one thing clear—I don't give a damn about your team or your family. I care about mine. You all hurt my wife, and you put my brother in a coma."
I reached for Deckard's hand, squeezing it to keep him grounded.
Hobbs scoffed. "Taking my boot right up your ass."
Mr. Nobody stepped in. "The fastest way to find Cipher is through Toretto. And aside from myself, the only two people who have ever tracked him down are standing right here. So, like it or not, you're working together. Got it?"
The room fell silent.
My head started spinning. The nausea hit me hard, and I stumbled slightly. Deckard's hands were on me in an instant, concern in his eyes.
Something wasn't right.
