"Are you kidding me?" Daisy exclaimed, looking at Olga and Roxy. "You let the director of frickin' SHIELD get kidnapped by some supervillain-wanna be?"

Roxy offered a self-conscious smile, shrugging.

"Yes?" She replied.

Daisy sighed, putting her hands on her hips. Why couldn't anything just be simple these days?

"Well do you have any baddies here that might've done this?"

"Not anyone big," Olga replied. "Only teens that mess around."

Daisy closed her eyes, moving a hand up to rub her temples.

"Do you at least have security tapes of the alleyway?"

Roxy nodded, glancing at Olga beside her.

"I think we should be able to hack into the street cams, see where he went."

The agent in front of her looked at her exasperatedly.

"You didn't even try that is the first place?!" Daisy exclaimed.

Roxy moved her attention back down to her feet as she felt her cheeks heat up. It wasn't exactly something she had immediately thought of, but now that Daisy mentioned it, it was a silly thing to overlook.

The group moved to the lab, where their most futuristic technology was for the time period. SHIELD in the 80s had taken some tech that the team had left them and their advancements had been revolutionary.

Daisy used the computer as Roxy directed her on the street and time.

The agents watched anxiously as the time sped backward, searching for the moment Deke got taken.

Daisy could feel her anxiety grow as the tape continued. It wasn't unlike Deke to disappear. He did it a lot, always sneaking off to random places. But Roxy's story on a figure chasing them from the base they stole the laptop with the final camera feeds, knocking out Roxy shortly after they did Deke.

It was obviously frightening.

Daisy couldn't help but remember the last time Deke was kidnapped. He had come back with multiple injuries, ones that definitely left scars.

He had hardly slept for days. Not to mention what had happened with Simmons, her brain wiped and malfunctioning. It sent shivers down Daisy's spine just to think of it.

The sound of Roxy's voice brought Daisy back to the present.

"...about now is when we came. Slow it down."

Daisy did as she was told, letting the video run on its real time.

The seconds seemed like minutes, that is until the screen played sounds of shouting and footsteps.

The agents watched as they saw the images of Deke and Roxy run into the alleyway, where they were obstructed from view.

Guards ran past, shouting to each other directions.

The time stamps showed that after maybe 2 minutes after the guards passed, another figure came running down the street. He wore all black, a mask covering his face.

The figure ran into the alleyway, where gunshots and shouts came from shortly after.

Daisy released a shaky breath when she saw the figure carrying Deke over his shoulder, stopping in the middle of the street. He took out a disk and tossed it onto the ground, the metal spinning until it glowed an orange hue.

The man stepped into the circle, still carrying Deke. The circle shot lines upwards, surrounding the figure as more lines appeared to surround the previous ones.

The lines began swirling and moving, creating more sparks. Eventually the column of light closed in on itself, creating a small spark of orange as it vanished, taking Deke and the kidnapper with it.

The agents sat in shock as the video continued, the street going on as if nothing had happened. Eventually, it showed Roxy stumble out of the alley and leave, but no one paid it much attention. Especially Daisy.

Mainly because she couldn't believe what she saw.

The figure had used a method of transportation all too familiar.

A Hunter Chronicom's teleportation device

"Wakey wakey. It's time for another talk."

"Get up!"

Deke jolted awake as he felt a swift kick in the ribs.

The sudden consciousness gave a sudden burst of pain through the director's skull. Even through his pain-riddled mind he could tell something was off.

As Deke lay there, his eyes almost fused shut from their dryness, he noticed how dark it was. He was usually unable to get complete darkness, even with his eyes closed. But now....

The lights were off.

His eyes opened quickly, taking note of the inky darkness surrounding his vision.

It was so relieving he felt as if he could cry from joy.

But his victory didn't last long before he felt another hard kick to his chest.

"You awake, Shaw?"

"Mmm," was the only sound of confirmation his dry throat could make. His eyelids sunk closed again, exhausted just from the effort.

"Good," a cheery voice sounded. "I hope you've liked your solitary confinement. I can only wish that you've gotten some sense into you to talk. I'm really at my last straw. So, why don't we begin?"

Deke felt himself be lifted up roughly, someone holding the back of his shirt.

"Now, where's Daisy Johnson?"

Deke forced his heavy eyelids to open, blinking them open when they tried to close again.

"I'll...never...tell," he whispered, his voice straining from the effort.

The dark figure in front of him tsked, then reached a hand out to Deke's shoulder.

"I'm very disappointed, Deke. I was hoping you might've been more agreeable by now."

He heard the man sigh, his hand moving up to tug his hair.

"I guess we've moved past long-lasting punishments."

Deke squeezed his eyes shut in fear as he felt the man release his hair and move past him, supposedly to the guard holding Deke.

"Take him to the lab. I'm done playing games."

——

Uh-oh. Deke's really in trouble now. The story shall only continue...

I hoped you liked this chapter! Have a wonderful rest of your day and stay safe!
