Tonight was family dinner.

After yesterday's picnic and a night out, Alessandro took a big step in his relationship with Ashanti this morning with the sweetest and most intimate proposal. After the proposal, we spent time at the beach until the sunset and then we made our way back to get ready for dinner.

It would be a small and intimate night with the family. One of the best ways to end the night.

I sat on the floor in front of the closet mirror with a curling rod in my hand. My outfit was laid out on the counter behind me and my make-up sat in the bag on the floor beside me. Surprisingly, the closet had better lighting than the bathroom.

'' So how is it? I see you've got a tan going on over there. You lucky bitch.'' Valencia observes.

Letting the last curl drop, I turned off the curling iron and unplugged it before setting it back down on the towel.'' It's amazing. I love Italy and his family is so wonderful and welcoming. I truly had nothing to worry about but with a family this big I guess nerves were to be expected.''

'' And the most exciting part of this trip...''

'' The sex.'' Siobhan interrupted before I could finish.

Rolling my eyes, I nodded.'' Besides the sex. Gosh you guys either need to get laid or get your head out of the gutter these days.'' I picked fun at my friends nearly non- existent sex life.

Valencia looked appalled. '' I'll have you know that my nights have drifted from the fifteen minute on call room sex if i'm lucky, to me being ravished like a five star meal in his one thousand and thirty thread count Egyptian sheets.''

Siobhan and I reeled back, surprised that Valencia had managed to hold back this tidbit of her sex life from us. '' And why were we not made aware of this?''

Valencia bits her bottom lip, twirling her finger around a dark strand of hair.'' Well because...''

Oh great. When Valencia started off a sentence like this, the outcome was bound to range from good news to bad news.

'' Technically he's married.'' She closed her eyes tightly.

You've got to be shitting me. '' Valencia!''

''Before you lecture and judge me,'' she began defending herself. '' They've been separated for five years. Before I came to New York, they tried to work things but realized that the marriage was doomed. He'd sent her the divorce papers before ever touching me.''

'' But...'' Siobhan spoke, coaxing the rest of the information out of Valencia while I started on my makeup.

'' She wants more alimony. Which I think is bullshit considering she decided to quit her job all on her own. She also signed a prenup with a minimum set amount of alimony so she's fighting an uphill battle.''
