Next morning

Katherina POV

Sometimes I have the feeling that someone has cursed my family. We were so happy together, Nathan and I have been through so much together, we broke each other's hearts, fought with each other, hid things from each other, but at the same time we loved each other immensely that's what kept us together, and then we had our babies, who became our reason to live, but everything changed in a moment. It will never be the same ever again and that is the worst part of it all.

I know we're all hurting on the inside, but none of us really pours it out in front of other. We are all broken inside, none of us are truly happy, but we are smiling and laughing for each other very well knowing that a member of our family is not with us by his own will because he holds so much hatred in his heart which breaks my soul every second.

If I could go back in time and erase that day from all of our lives, I would, even if it meant losing everything.

"Mom?" I turn around and saw Kathy standing with her bag, ready to leave for school. "Where are you lost? I'm calling you for last five minutes."

"I am sorry honey" I got up from my chair and proceeded into kitchen to prepare food for her, "You're going to school early today," I said as I plated breakfast for her.

"Yeah... I-I have one extra lecture."

Kathy looked a little out of place to me, usually she is very vibrant and active in the mornings, but today she looked lost.

"Are you all right, honey?" I asked her.

Her eyes met mine and she blinked twice, "Sure.. yeah.. what will happen to me mum," she chuckled lowly, giving me a half-hearted smile. I immediately sensed there is something going on in her head, but I didn't want to push her to talk to me, so I didn't say anything else.

I grab her plate and head over to the dining table, where I sat next to her.

"Are you not eating?" she asked

"No, I'm not hungry,"

"Okay" she nodded as she began devouring food.

I tried a lot, but I couldn't take my gaze off her face. Kathy is not a person who can hold anything inside her for long, but the anxiety on her face is eating me up, I can't watch her this way.

"I love you baby," I mumble as I lift my hand and place a strand of hair behind her ear, causing her to look at me.

"Love you too, mama" she said. I placed a kiss on her head as she continued eating. "Ma?"

"Hmm"

"You never talk much about your childhood, why so?" she questioned out of nowhere.

"I- just.. there's not much to talk about.. maybe that's why" I shrug.

"What about your teen years? Is there anything you'd like to talk about?" she asked.

"Yeah.. maybe"

"C'mon ma, tell me something.. like what you used to do.. about your friends, did you used to go to parties? Concerts? Clubs?" she pushed the conversation, which brought up memories I'd rather forget.

"It was normal" I looked away, "Are you done?" I asked, pointing to her plate, she nodded keeping her haze fixed on me.

I stood up from my chair and walked back to sink to put empty dishes.

"Mom, who is Seth?"

The plate almost slid out of my grasp, I turned around in total disbelief after hearing the name.
