Evan POV

After walking away from that odd experience at the kabab stand I found a store that seemed to sell instruments. I was passionate about a certain instrument in my past life so I decided to go ahead and buy one. I opened the door and looked around a bit, my eyes landing on exactly what I was looking for.

A flute.

Okay, okay, I know what you think.
"Flutes are so boring! Why couldn't the author choose a better instrument?!" Or "Flutes are too feminine...I'd rather something like the drums or piano." If you were the second one, kindly see yourself out.
Anyway, the author wanted a flute story since they played flute for a year in band. The end. You're welcome.

Ahem,
on another note, even though the Desrosiers didn't like Evan, they weren't very stingy with his allowance. Of course, eVaNgELiNe still got more money, but it's fine. I'm not salty. Not at all.
However, on a completely unrelated topic, Evangeline could go die in a hole for all I care.

I wasn't sure how to pay, like is it the same as our past world? Is it different? If so, how different? This is confusing.
I felt someone tap my shoulder.

I turned around and saw the SAME DUDE FROM THE KEBAB STORE.
Is he actually a stalker? Is he and the kabab worker in cahoots?! I should run after I buy something...

I snapped out of my trance and saw the weirdo chuckling. Again.
If I could make a face

through text you would see me making a dead face. Because it's not amusing.
He politely asked me what I was looking for but I bet he's secretly laughing at me inside.
"I, uhm- how much is this flute right here?"
He paused for a second before responding.
"Uhhh, about 80 gold pieces."
Damn, that's pretty expensive...I only have 80 gold pieces, 20 silver pieces, and 50 copper coins.

To reference,
gold pieces are about $50 in the currency we are familiar with, while silver is half of that at $25. And copper is worth about 10 bucks.
There's also small copper and small silver.
One being $1 and the other being $5.
But enough explaining to no one, I should pay.

I dug through my bag,( didn't have to for very long since gold pieces are the largest, about as big as a dollar coin.) and got all my gold coins out. I briefly counted them before handing them towards the man.
"Oh, could you give me these at the register instead?" He said with a smile.
I felt heat rise up to my cheeks.
I'm an idiot...

I carefully rushed out after paying and obtaining my flute... because that was awkward.
Maybe I'll play it a bit.

I walked around a bit until I found a seemingly abandoned clearing. There wasn't any chairs so I kinda just sat on the grass.

I cleared my throat.
AhEm cOugh.

I skimmed my brain for any songs I could think of.
Finally, how come my memory is so bad...

And I started playing.
Debussy: Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune.

540 words.

A/N✎ Hey whoever is reading this! Sorry this was so short! I wanted to get it posted. :') Song decided by yours truly... GOOGLE! I just googled intermediate songs and searched a bit and uhhh this was the answer and I picked it since it seemed interesting. Google Translate says it means "Debussy: Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun." and I just wanted to point that out because it seemed nice to know. Anyway, signing off!
