drowned sunsets

she was like a ray of sunlight
no, a whole sunset
beautiful, radiant, strong
bright, vibrant colours blended together

she always had a laugh in her heart
a smile on her face
energetic, fierce, a social butterfly
but then her wings were torn

the wrong people loved her
and she loved the wrong people
her light got buried under the shards of her broken heart

her hair turned dull
her eyes grew dark
she dresses in black
and never lets anyone love her anymore

because the little girl full of sunlight is gone
leaving a broken soul
