Welcome to the family [Dramione]

Chapter 5

¨Mother, is the beaver coming to the reunion this year? I really hope she doesn't,¨ Kimberly asked as she tugged her suitcase off the conveyor belt. Aunt Isabelle scowled in disdain and said, ¨She is, i don't know why but she just decided to come. Grandmother received the RSVP already.¨ Kimberly groaned and dragged her sister and boyfriend, Kate and Jonah, over to the waiting car.

A part of the Granger Family had just landed in Heathrow airport, 'fashionably' late for the reunion, right after their summer vacation. A car sent by the hotel had been there since morning, waiting to pick them up. As the family clambered onto the limousine, Uncle Joseph grumbled irritably due to jet lag.

Hermione's aunts' family was her worst nightmare since young. As nasty and snobbish as ever, they had never changed and subsequently passed the hatred of Hermione on to their children. They had played endless 'pranks' on Hermione, chopping off her bushy hair when she was 12, tearing up her dress before her 11th birthday party, 'accidentally' burning her with a curling iron and countless more. What angered Hermione most was the never ending shade her aunt and family threw on her parents. ¨Why are you so pale, Hermione? You should use your parent's ashes to powder your face to give them some colour.¨ And that was not the worst of the insults. If you think it is bad, oh my, that's an understatement. Plus, they weren't even powerful, rich or have any kind of status in society. To say such awful things is the lowest of the low.

As they pulled up to Serpens Et Leaena, 2 valets and 2 assistants were already waiting for them to arrive. Aunt Isabelle was impressed with the service so far and made a mental note to 'encourage' Grandmother Eleanor to host their family reunion in the same or similar hotel. By encourage, it means Grandmother footing the hefty bill as always after every reunion. The assistants immediately secured the family's bag in a trolley and guided them, including grouchy Uncle Joseph to the 4th Ballroom. As the family stepped into the ballroom, all eyes were on them. Uncle Joseph's brother's family, Aunt Isabelle's brother and sister's families and so on.

Although Aunt Isabelle and her stuck-up family were late, Hermione was not here yet. Grandma Eleanor had insisted on waiting on her precious granddaughter before starting, despite others' prompts to leave her. Just then, the ballroom opened to reveal Draco and Hermione, arm in arm. Seeing Hermione for the first time in 5 years, Grandma Eleanor squealed and hobbled over to greet Hermione. ¨OH! My dear Hermione! I've missed you so much! I am so happy you came today. You've grown into a lovely young lady, with a dashing husband, I see," spotting the glittering diamond ring on Hermione's finger. Hermione grinned and wrapped her beloved grandmother in an enormous hug. Grandma Eleanor clapped her hands in satisfaction and announced, ¨Okay, tomorrow morning, we will meet in the lobby at 10 for brunch, enjoy yourselves, my dears! Catch up with everyone!¨

With that, everyone got up to go back to their own rooms. Kimberly approached Hermione, saying, ¨Oh my gosh, beaver, you've grown! Did you find an escort just for this reunion? Pathetic. Come on, you can never be as successful as me you know? I have a brand deal to model for HJM, the best luxury brand.¨ Hermione scoffed and rolled her eyes, if she could, she would have slapped Kimberly. Hermione pressed the lift button for the top floor, where the owners (her obv) penthouse is, while Kimberly pressed the 12th level. ¨I think you pressed the wrong level, idiot. That's where the owners live.¨ As the lift arrived at Kimberly's level, and she stepped out, Hermione smirked and whispered not-very-softly, ¨Darling, I live there¨
