Lieutenant Matthew's POV

Survival Log Entry #15 August 23, 2021

It had been three years since the invasion of earth. Life had changed for all of us. There were no skyscrapers anymore, those had fallen apart when the Zasekians invaded and wrecked the world's cities. The most we had been able to build was log cabins, though the buildings that had not been destroyed were used too. Although living conditions were different, we had managed to keep a smaller, yet still workable import structure, as well as the internet still online. We had enough gas to power power plants, but that was about all. The main mode of transportation was on horses and railroads, which had mainly been untouched from the invaders. Suburbs had become the cities of the USA, while South America had become mainly settlements of people in rural areas. As for Europe, it had become like living in ruins. Asian living was now in makeshift buildings on the outskirts of cities, forests, and on mountainous areas. Governments had all fallen apart, with lawlessness more common than ever. The new governments were basically smaller governments, mostly run by dictators, with a few democracies. The USA had split into three separate countries, the Eastern United Coast, ruled by a democracy, the South Western Stateship, ruled by a representative democracy, and The Northern American Federation, ruled by a dictator. The countries mainly got along with each other, though the North American Federation was disliked by the other two countries, as it was ruled by one man, a former billionaire. But they put aside there differences to form a alliance, both an economical one and a military one.

North America had remained relatively stable compared to Europe though. Europe had become more like a anarchist region, with Russia the most powerful European country, which had taken over parts of China and Western Europe. They were a threat to the rest of the world, but with infrastructure weak, especially in navy and Air Force capabilities, the only war was the Russian-Arabian War. The world was weaker, but it had not fallen. There was common opinion among everyone though who had survived: one day, no matter what, the people of Earth would have there revenge on the invaders.

I had stayed with my fellow former Sailors. We had all survived the trip back to North America, and joined the Eastern United Coast Militia. Commander Morris even won a position as the Chief of Defense , meaning he was basically in charge of the military now. I had started a business that sold weapons, some salvage, others handmade, both guns and melee weapons. The settlement I lived in consisted of two thousand people. It was one of the middle sized cities that had been founded since the invasion of earth, and one of the most fortified cities, as we were on the coast of former North Carolina, and the city was in a strategic location. And by fortified I mean stone cement walls.

No one would have ever expected humanity to rise back up so quickly. But we had, and we were growing stronger every day. The alien invasion had proved there were threats outside of the earth, and space technology was the top priority after fixing refining and manufacturing infrastructure. We would rise back out of the ashes to end the Zazekian Empire.

Benjamin Kearth's POV

When we made it to the Midwest, we didn't stay very long. The desert conditions were almost impossible to survive in. We barely got enough food to eat, the only sustainable food was the ranchers cows, but obviously stealing cows would make the rancher get a gun and shoot us, and with no forest, it would be easy to shoot large reptiles. We settled in the former state of Virginia, mainly because of its forests, and the amount of wild deer and turkey. It was also less populated than other regions we had gone threw to get there. There were other lab escapees in the area too. A T-Rex pack was 100 miles away, and the Spinosaurus Pack sometimes came to the coast, as they swam the eastern coast hunting salt water fish and alligators. There was also four Quetzalcoatlus living ten miles from our territory.

Three years after we escaped we had decided, like every species did, (the one exception not having more than one member of there species being the only Hybrid species created by X.A.S., Stigaderadon, a hybrid of Stigamoloch and Pteranodon) to find mates. Most species didn't have much to choose from, but some were lucky like me, who became the mate of the best girl ever, Athena. Jonathan and Tracy became mates later, as did Gregory and Francine. It was a bit weird with um, the 'weddings' though. Don't ask about the very disappointing receptions with deer meat as the main course. The fourth year the entire pack was worried about the eggs that were going to hatch any day, and not just the usual worry for babies people have. No, we were worried the babies might just be driven by instincts, not have the mind and soul we had as humans and now dinosaurs. You see, even though we once in awhile heard over the public mind link other voices than ours, we never asked about babies. If they were like us. But in the afternoon of the summer, 2021, five eggs hatched.

We couldn't tell when they were first born if they were sapient, but we tried to communicate via the mind link telepathy every day, and one month later we got a response from one.

"If you here this, nod your head." I said, for the 30th time.

"Dad, I don't wanna nod my head.", one of the females, named Riptide, replied telepathically. Yeah, I was surprised just as much as you that at one month old hatchlings could speak, not to mention telepathically. Later we figured out that the hatchlings were as smart as a 6 year old at 4 weeks, but before then as dumb as babies, and that they also had some sort of instinctual memory that taught them how to speak, among other things.

The others started telepathically speaking by the end of the day. Me and Athena were the first to have hatchlings, so of course we had to learn everything the hard way. Hatchlings were intelligent, but they had little knowledge of anything, they did not know simple math, they did not know what a human was, and the only thing they learned themselves was how to talk and how to run. Eventually when they were 6 months old, they had reached half the size of us, with about the same level intellect as us, though of course they had very little knowledge of life.

The species revived from the fossil record in the lab, now free, we're determined to make sure the dinosaurs and Cenozoic creatures didn't return to the dirt. We had begun families, and with the minds and souls of humans, we wouldn't go this time. A true new age, for both humans and the once extinct reptiles and mammals, had begun.

So, I finally uploaded a chapter again. Yeah! I'll prob not upload a new chapter for a month, I kinda don't know what to write about next without jumping to far ahead. If you have any chapter ideas and want to tell me them that would be great. Anyways, thx for reading.

So I wrote this once, but I scrapped it cause it wasn't working. That's mainly why it took me awhile. Hopefully you guys think it was worth a rewrite delay.
