Short Story "Chai Tea"

'here you both are, two cups of chai tea'

'thank you'

the waitress smiled as she walked off, leaving both phoenix and allen alone, allen gently blew his hot tea to help cool it before taking a small sip, he looked up at phoenix and noticed him just staring down at his cup, his hands wrapped around the large round mug

'..why did you bring me here?'

allen nearly chocked out his tea at the sudden question, phoenix had barely spoken other than the the quiet "sure" he got when he offered to take him to the nearby tea shop and treat him out for chai tea, Allen's personal favourite

'..w-what do you mean'

he asked as he cleared his throat, phoenix kept his gaze down, still staring at the hot mug of tea in front of him

'..why did you bring me here?, to a tea shop?'

he asked in the same quiet tired tone as before

'well, ...chai tea is actually my favourite kind, and it usually helps me with I'm in a bad mood'

'..you hated me'

allen blinked at him, slightly taken aback, that was when phoenix finally looked up from his mug and right into his eyes

'...before the re-trial of AL-9, ..you hated me, ..you made sure to stay away from me as far as possible, ..you never even made eye contact with me, ..if i was in the same room as you, you would run away'

allen awkwardly scratched the back of his neck, oh boy, he knew this would come, it was no secret that almost every single detective and police officers in the district hated and was terrified of phoenix wright, gumshoe hated the guy way before all of this, he was the one told allen about Phoenix during his time training with him to be a member on the force, he always said how scary he was, the fights he's seen him in, and how much of a jackass he was and just overall a really scary dude you wanted to stay away from

allen never really hated phoenix, just because he never really actually met him or talked to him at all, but he did fear him, his eyes just felt like theh were  judging and pricing into your soul, and the way he yelled when he got mad, and the victims who were unfortunate enough to be in. Fight with him, it freaked him out to no end, so he made the effort to stay away from him, now it's something he regretted, the poor guy all along just needed a good friend, and Allen was gonna make up for his wrong doings

'w-well to be honest, ..i was afraid i was gonna get murdered by you, ..uh no offence'

to his relief, phoenix only shrugged

'...I'm not exactly a nice person'

allen frowned as he played with his own mug

'...i didn't do this out of pity you know'

phoenix kept his face and gaze natural, nut intrigued filled his eyes 

'..it's just, ..I've seen how tired and stressed you've been lately, and i realized that even if i wasn't really mean to you, ..i still was a jerk for just judging you based on other people's opinions, ..so i treated you out here for a fresh new start i guess, ..if your okay with that of course'

phoenix stared at him, slightly surprised, not sure on what to say, finally after a moment he said

'...i never thought i would ever have a friend that worked in the police force'

'...I'm sorry for what the justice system did to you and your mom, ..you didn't deserve that, you deserved justice...'

he didn't miss how phoenix slightly flinched at the mention of the horrid incident, but he pretended as though he didn't notice

'..it's okay, ...it's not like you or gumshoe were a part of it, ...I'm sorry i judged you both so harshly, ..i am very biased towards the Justice system, ..so i tend to have a very negative view on them'

he gave him his best comforting grin

'hey don't sweat it, i mean, i would be the same way too if i went through something as traumatic as that!, it's all water over the bridge now'

'...thanks for this'

He said as he looked down at his mug again, he stirred a bit before taking a small gulp, it was more sweet then what he was used to, but it was good

'How is it?'

He shrugged

'..it's sweet, ..but it's good'

Allen grinned as he mentally cheered in his mind, forming a friendship with Phoenix Wright was gonna be difficult but not impossible
