Chapter 9: trouble with the casino

Luke's POV

I had just got a call from child services. They told me about Curly and I was ecstatic. Course I didn't show it but I felt it.

One of my most trusted men, Manny, picked her up. She's finally home.

I could tell my brothers were a little sad and disappointed since she seemed she didn't know their names. I can't blame them. Although it was pretty funny when she called me and Caden grumpy dude and serious man.

Kenzer, Kai, Spencer, Manny and Ian had come over to discuss some problems we are facing.

To make it less suspicious I invited them to dinner.

Kenzer and Ian just joined about seven months ago but was already proving to be a good additions. Kai joined with us about a year and a half ago. Spencer is one of Caden's friends and he was good at fighting so we asked him to join about three years ago. Manny has been working here since I was ten.

"What's wrong boss?" Kenzer asks

"We have a slight problem with the casinos, smaller gangs are holding meetings and other stuff in there" I explained to them.

"So? I mean they're smaller they won't do much to us. Remember we are a mafia they are a gang. We instantly have power over them" one of my youngest brothers, James says.

"Well they could get bigger dumb ass" Caden replies his younger brother.

"What if we add more security to the meeting rooms. Then we would know if they are or not" Kai speaks out

"Hmmm good idea. What do you think Luke?" Zack says.

I nod, "Yes I suppose we could go with that"

I dismiss them and sit at my desk and do paper work. I stop and think about Lidia.

I wonder if she know that Carl killed Sarah. I mean she deserves it after all the stuff she put us through. But I mean she was her mom.

Lidia acts as if nothing's wrong. I wonder if that's how she copes. This is dangerous I don't need to wonder I need to know. She was so innocent when she was younger. Now she seems as if she grew up.

If she would just trust us then we could finally begin to bond. Earlier I saw her run and climb our tree. She used to love that tree. Caden would strap her to him and he would sit there and play with her in the fork of the tree. When she was kidnapped we almost cut that tree down. Now I'm glad we didn't.

Spencer came in "Hey boss I think there's something you should know"

I looked up at him, my face telling him to continue.

"So I was on my phone in the kitchen when I saw Lidia come down", my attention was fully on him at the mention of Lidia, "and as soon as she saw me I heard her breathe harder and I glanced up to see what was wrong and she sprinted out of the kitchen" He explained.

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Thank you for telling me that, I'll have to ask her about that tomorrow"

He nodded.

Well that's interesting. Guess tomorrow we'll have to find out why she did that.
