Half of the plague ghosts that resided in Button House died in 1348 when the disease spread from infected furs that were brought into a village. The other half died later when what would become Bone House (and later become Higham house, and later still become Button House) was converted into a plague hospital to treat victims of the next outbreak in 1619. Judging by the ghosts left behind, though, it wasn't a great hospital. Its patients probably would have fared far better if its only doctor hadn't died.
