only me

21 2 3

you gaze as the sky lights up with stars,
the man in the moon
leaving hibernation.
your body rests in my embrace,
keeping me near
your scintillating figure
with such grace.
your touch—feather touch—
coils round mine,
grasping desperately,
holding our love
as it seeps through your fingers.
disobeying time—as if you could;
the sand will always fall from the hourglass—
our love escaping your grasp without linger.
the willow tree could never protect you.
the carmine berries of fragrant harvest
meant to represent love's essence,
turn to rotten strawberries on my lips,
fogging your sight with
saccharine, jaded lies
in a gentle kiss.
willow leaves crumbling
with dew drops of blue.
you cannot hold on
to the ghosts of the past—
though, i will always haunt you.
