---------------------

The next week came and went without much progress between you and Neta. You texted somewhat regularly, but only saw him for a few minutes in the mornings when he came to get his coffee. The two of you hadn't made any new plans, and you were hesitant to make any.

Your mind drifted back to how eager you'd been to have sex on the first date. It almost felt like you couldn't trust yourself, like it was too easy to feel comfortable around Neta. You weren't sure you were ready for that kind of connection. Honestly, it was a little scary.

You checked your phone and saw it was finally time to close. Ren had the day off and Evi only worked a half shift today, so you were left to close up on your own. YB was there too, but he wasn't exactly good company. You finished shutting down the register when you heard the bell over the door ring.

"Sorry, we're closed." You didn't look up right away, but the moment the person opened their mouth, your stomach dropped.

"Hey, baby. Long time no see, huh?" Janicot stumbled up to the counter. He swayed with every step and as soon as he got a little closer, you could smell the alcohol on him.

"Go home, Janicot." You took a step back, but he reached over the counter, grasping your arm.

"Aw, don't be like that." He pulled you towards him and your body banged against the counter. You tried to use your other arm to brace yourself, but just ended up knocking over a stack of cups. The noise drew YB from his office and he looked out from the backroom.

"Y/N, what have I told you about having your boyfriend here while you're at work? You really couldn't wait another minute until you clocked out?" He gave you a disappointed look.

"But he's not my bo-" You tried pulling out of Janicot's grip but he wouldn't budge.

"I don't want to hear it. Just go ahead and clock out. I'll finish up here." He scowled at the two of you before disappearing in the back. As much as you couldn't stand him, you really didn't want to be left alone in this situation.

"I need to get my stuff from the back." You glared at Janicot who narrowed his eyes. He paused for a moment before letting go, resting his hands on the counter.

"Don't keep me waiting." He commanded, and you hurried into the back.

Once you were in the back, your heart felt like it was going to burst from your chest. The last thing you'd expected to have to deal with tonight was your ex. You grabbed your bag and glanced at YB's office door. Taking a deep breath, you knocked lightly. The door cracked open and YB looked down at you.

"What now?" He crossed his arms, and you clasped your hands together to stop them from shaking.

"I'm sorry to bother you, it's just...well it's really late. I don't feel safe walking out right now." Your voice was quiet, and you tried your best to control the shake in it.

"What are you saying? Your boyfriends here, so what's there to be worried about?" You opened your mouth to explain yourself, but YB just waved his hand, sighing loudly. "Listen, Y/N. I don't have time for this right now. I still have a lot to do, so just go home already." He turned and slammed the door in your face.

You made a mental note to add this to your list of reasons you couldn't stand your manager. Pulling out your phone, you sent a quick SOS text to Evi. You weren't sure what she could do to help, but you were desperate. With no other options left, you walked back out into the cafe. Janicot was half slumped against the counter. His hazy brown eyes flashed to you when you walked out.
