Chapter 29 - Assassin

Jin Qiu felt like things keep happening to him lately, but after a while, he felt unexpectedly calm. He sinks himself in the warm water of the spring and stretched out his arms and legs comfortably. The water in this place felt better than the one at the palace, it's just perfect for him to relax. He started to think that the trip is not that bad.

When they arrived at the inn, Ren Zhengsheng left Jin Qiu alone, saying that he needs to take care of something. The man told Jin Qiu to rest and enjoys the hot water, and for once Jin Qiu gladly accepted the suggestion.

All he wants now is for the rest of the trip to stay like that.

"Qiu er, how's the water?"

"It's warm, but it's not too..hot?" Jin Qiu's moment of peace came to an end as soon as it begins. Ren Zhengsheng, dressed in a light cotton robe and carrying a tray in one hand, was standing tall over the edge of the pool. "You're back. But what are you doing here?"

"What else would I be doing here aside from bathing? That's the exact reason I go for this trip."

"I know, but do you realize that I'm still using it now? By me. Because I'm bathing now. If you insist, I will finish soon and let you use it." Jin Qiu gets ready to get out, in case Ren Zhengsheng has a stupid idea of bathing together with him.

"There's no need." Ren Zhengsheng caught Jin Qiu's dripping arm, holding it firmly in his hand. His eyes were frigid, but the touch of his hand was hotter than the water. Leaning on one knee, Ren Zhengsheng moved closer to Jin Qiu. "But if you're thinking about your position as the Empress, I think it's only right for you to accompany me here."

"Are you going to say something like that now? I just know you will try to do something in this trip. But too bad, I'm still angry with you and I don't even want to talk to you now, so can you let go of my hand?"

Jin Qiu wondering if Ren Zhengsheng will really let go of his hand.

"You can be angry with me, but it doesn't change the fact that you're tied to me. If you're angry with what I did to the child, then you should teach me how to properly handle them from now on."

"Are you seriously saying something like that now? You, of all people, will change the way you think just because I asked you to?"

Jin Qiu still remember how cold Ren Zhengsheng looked like when he was about to kill the child. But that's not the only thing that happens. Ren Zhengsheng stops when he protected the child and even let the child go. Can he really change Ren Zhengsheng? Realizing that just made him aware the beating of his heart.

"Let's just say that I will teach you, will you really listen to whatever I say?"

"Do you want me to give you some prove?" Ren Zhengsheng placed a kiss on Jin Qiu's ear, his teeth lightly grazing the lobe.

Jin Qiu shivered, disturbing the calm water. Cool drop of condensation dripped from his hair and slid down his body like little thrills.

Jin Qiu doesn't want to admit, but Ren Zhengsheng is really good at this. But even if the man is not good, Jin Qiu can't really move because his body is stiff.

Ren Zhengsheng kissed Jin Qiu's hand again, delivering tiny nips along his fingers.

Jin Qiu's alone time at the hot spring had become Ren Zhengsheng's time, yet Jin Qiu can't really complain.

Maybe, just maybe, Jin Qiu needs something like this. But even so, Jin Qiu glared at the Emperor, making sure that the Emperor knows that regardless of how good it felt, he didn't appreciate this invasion of his personal time.
