Answer: "I asked this person in advance, they said they want it not AU, but they still want it fluff, the idea was left up to me to decide, so here is my idea. BTW, it was asked for male reader, but I made it sound like it was GN (gender neutral)"
Idea: Nightfall says she loves male reader, and when male reader gets confused and gives her a weird face, she then says that she won't say it again. In some way, comedic, but ofc fluff style. They both have a mission together and this is when/where she tells him that she loves him. Enjoy.
This might sound or make Nightfall sound a bit ooc, let me know if it's weird!

It was Monday morning for Nightfall, her new mission that was given to her was to infiltrate a sketchy building that wasn't too far away from HQ. It was known there were unknown enemies hiding around that area. And it was Nightfall's job to eliminate them.
Unknowest to her, she was assigned a partner, and it was you.

"What are you doing here c/n?"
"I'm your partner Nightfall?"
"I thought I was supposed to be alone..."
"Are you telling me to go back to HQ, and tell them I failed to work with you?"
"...No"
"I thought so"
"Nevermind, just don't get in my way"
"Sure..."
It was a silent walk while heading up to the sketchy building, it was very awkward at first, but Nightfall didn't seem to mind. You asked her how was her day, she said it was alright. She proceeded to ask about your day, except you were staring at her. She caught you staring at her and you turned around, flustered at your own random actions.
Nightfall had no reaction to your face but was more of confused about why you were staring at her in such a manner.
"Hey c/n"
"Yeah?"
"What are you thinking about right now?"
"N-Nothing!? Why w-would you think t-that Nightfall???"
"No reason... just curious"
"Ok"
The rest of the walk was just plain awkward, you felt like you might've accidentally offended Nightfall, but you didn't do that, instead, you made her realise that you had feelings for her.
Talk about trying to keep a closed secret a secret... Nightfall read you like a book.
Eventually, the both of you reached the building that was in need to be infiltrated, it was a bookshop. Very simple, very... old... It was a place filled with knowledge and the smell of an ancient cafe from nowhere. The shelves were lined up with many books, some on sale, while some aren't. The place was a wooden golden brown shop. There was an employee at the counter that welcomed you both. She asked what you were looking for today, Nightfall said that the both of you were just browsing today.
Once inside the shop, Nightfall headed towards the back of the shop.
"Where are we going Nightfall?"
"You mean 'Fiona'?"
"Oh right, my mistake Fiona..."
"We have to make sure this place has no cameras, that's why I'm checking from the back of the shop, I want you to pretend like you're busy checking out a book, I'll be busy in the back, can you do that for me y/n?"
"Yes"
While you were busy checking out a book, in such a short amount of time, there was a scream from the backroom of the store.
You dropped whatever book you had in your hand and ran towards the sound source. Once you saw two people dead on the floor including a girl from the counter earlier, you asked what was going on.
"N-Nightfall!? What happened here!?"
"Just found our enemies is all"
"So you just killed them!?"
"That was my orders"
"Oh..."
"Hey... y/n"
"Yeah?"
"I'll take care of the mess, love you..."
"Ok... wait... what?!"
"I'm not saying it again dummy, either you heard it or not"
"Wait! Say it again!"
"I'm not saying it again, unless you want to be murdered by me, then no way"
"But! How did you!?"
"y/n... You're like a damn open book... I have no idea how you became a spy..."
"Uh..."
"Leave me be, love you..."
"Mm... l-love you too..."
