Chapter 20

Meredith Grey

"No please don't kill him please Richard please we can't unplug him" I cry squeezing his hand god this hurts.

"Meredith he's been laying there for three weeks and you are literally in labor as we speak" he says as I scream.

"He's supposed to be here right now he's supposed to be here" I cry not wanting to push.

"Meredith you need to push" Addison says.

"I can't Derek is supposed to be here" I shake my head.

"Meredith they are coming your two babies" Cristina says.

"They are Derek's babies too and he won't be able to see them he won't be able to cut the umbilical cords" I say.

"Dr. Webber" I hear Dr. Bailey call for him.

He gets up and walks over to her. Cristina sits behind me and I lay my head on her shoulder but continue to watch the scene outside the door.

She seems rushed and once she gets everything out he runs away...I could be overreacting but he went the way we take to get to Derek's room, it could be anyone but it also could be Derek.

He could be waking up, or he could be dying I'm really fucking scared right now. Meredith don't think that way he probably has another patient and Derek is just fine or it is Derek and he is awake.

"Meredith you really need to get these babies out or we are taking you into an emergency C-section these babies have been in there for long overdue" Dr. Montgomery sighs.

"He isn't here" I whisper.

"Meredith deep breaths" Cristina says massaging my back.

"You finally ready?" Dr. Montgomery asks.

I nod as Cristina whispers encouraging words into my ear.

"Okay Meredith on three push you got it?" She asks and I once again only nod.

"One, two, three okay push push push" she says.

We take a break before we do it again. "Okay, ready one two three" she counts again.

After a long three hours of labor including me refusing to push I finally was blessed with Derek and I's two little girls. Derek liked the name Veronica and Elisabeth so that's exactly what I'm going to name them.

Veronica Carolyn Shepherd.

Elisabeth Cristina Shepherd.

I decided to name them after Carolyn and Cristina because they have been here for me since Derek has been in his coma and technically they are named after Christopher and Derek with the last name as Shepherd kind of Carolyn in that sense but her maiden name is Maloney.

I got to hold my baby girls and I fed them they are so beautiful I wish Derek was here right now to see them I wish he could just wake up and hold them, hold me.

Cristina and Carolyn got them dressed up and told me it was okay to take a rest even though I really didn't want to because my kids were right there but I was starting to drift off.

I am very exhausted so I finally gave in and fell asleep and had dreams about Derek of course and our brand new bundles of joy.
