Description

Sometimes bad things happen to people. Ruby Baudelaire knew a lot about that. First her parents died in a fire that destroyed her home, and then Count Olaf happened. With Count Olaf came with her sister almost getting married, the death of Uncle Monty, the death of Aunt Josephine, and the hypnotism of her twin brother. Which left her here, in the halls of Prufrock Preparatory as she waited pessimistically for more to come. Her siblings seemed hopeful, but she just couldn't find it in her anymore. Everywhere they went came with danger and most likely murder. She had been traumatised, and could barely sleep anymore. Nightmares haunted her, and she didn't want to sleep. She didn't want to close her eyes and succumb to that round of terror.

But Prufrock Prep came with one good thing. Duncan Quagmire was her saving grace.

'We found the red herring.'

'Did you see anything in it?'

'Oh, um, we- we didn't have time to really examine it closely.'

'Ah.'

'Yep.'

Summary

She knew nothing other than horror now, and his bad experiences had just started. But sometimes, someone who you just met is the most important thing in your past, present, and future.
