Don't put your faith in people
They will often let you down
From my porch I see a church steeple
Which reminds me God's always aroundPeople have often hurt me
I am sure I have done the same
It was never done intentionally
I do not play that sick gameNevertheless, I am human
And I am not perfect you see
By God I have been forgiven
He never holds it against meSome have refused to forgive me
Though I try to make things right
God said, "Let it go—leave it be"
I live with a heart that's contriteEven though God always forgives
It is harder to forgive myself
My risen Savior He lives—He lives
He says,
"You must learn to forgive yourself""There's not one on earth who's perfect
Which is why I want them to forgive
Not only do I require—I expect
Once you do in peace you will live"What a better world it would be
If we all forgave with the love of Jesus© 2022 Suzanna Jayne Mullins
