"Hey, hey, why won't you talk?" The girl confronts her. "You know, maybe they could listen."

She looks away, holding the knife tighter.

"Don't pretend I'm not here," The girl sighs. "Why not talk to me? I'll always listen, you see."

"I can't," Says the silent, in a choked, quivering voice. "My words don't matter, much less my choice."

"But you want to talk, so why don't you shout out? Shout out all those things, everything that you couldn't speak. Someone's bound to hear you out."

"Someone?" Laughs the silent. "Where? It's all black here."  "Over here," The girl points to herself. "Even in the black night, I'll lend you an ear."

"But you'll tell me I'm wrong and that I should be happy with what I have."  "I'll be quiet till you're finished, because your feelings are valid. It's okay to cry, let it out."

"I'm not crying," The silent says, glaring with dark eyes.

"It's sad," The girl sighs. "You'll lie even to yourself, until you go mad."

The silent throws her knife. The mirror shatters.

"You liar," She hisses, tears streaming down. "There's no one here. What's this bullshit you're talking about?!"
