"What are you doing here?" Pete asked, swallowing the saliva in his already dry mouth.

"I said we would meet again." said a deep voice as the man's lips turned upwards into a slightly wicked smirk.

"Your really an asshole." Pete rolled his eyes before walking directly past Vegas.

The chill in the air sobered him up slightly as he passed through it. His heavy boots hitting the concrete as he lurched down the long road, dimly lit by flickering street-lights.

He had wandered around the town for about fifteen minutes, weaving in and out of narrow streets, without daring to check if the man was following him. He finally reached a park and perching himself on a bench located close to the entrance. Vegas sat down beside him after a few minutes, his eyes fixed on one thing only.

Pete.

Pete didn't even turn towards the man. and just stared out into the field before him, blanketed in darkness.

"You know what I don't like about you." Pete bagan as Vegas observed his side-profile.

The dim street light, roughly 10 feet behind them, was extremely flattering on him. His soft facial features, outlined to perfection and his skin had a golden glow. To Vegas, he almost seemed angelic.

"Your a good listener..." Pete continued, his gaze lowering. "Too good. You're the kind of guy people feel they can tell anything and everything to..." Pete finally turned to face him, locking their eyes immediately. "Having that much power over another person... is scary."

Vegas' expression remained unchanged as he asked "Do I scare you?" Pete turned back to staring into the darkness in front of him before replying.
"I think you know the answer."

At that moment Vegas felt a strange feeling wash over him. He was used to being feared. Once his targets realised his purpose with them the intense trepidation in their eyes was undisguisable, but Pete's eyes were never like that - not even the night in the alleyway after he found out about Vegas' identity.

"Why did you let me live?" Pete asked candidly, interrupting Vegas' thoughts.

Vegas tried to speak, but couldn't. He could say that Pete 'was a good person', That he believed he 'deserved to live', That he didn't think he even could kill him.

But he didn't say any of those. He just sat there in silence, staring into those deep brown eyes which stared back at him with such warmth despite the chill that ran down Vegas' spine whenever their eyes met.

No one had ever made Vegas feel like he did with Pete. He felt vulnerable with him and for the first time in a long time, he felt a connection to someone and wasn't ready to give that up.

"Vegas. Why didn't you kill me?" Pete repeated desperation staining his face.

Without a second thought, Vegas pulled Pete's face towards his and captured Pete's lips with his own.

Pete felt his heart skip a beat and after the initial shock sank in he felt himself begin to melt into the kiss. Vegas' lips were warm and soft and made Pete feel safe. Pete began to reciprocate the kiss and gently placed his hands on Vegas' shoulders.

Vegas moved his hands down to Pete's waist and Pete immediately moved his face away from the other, breaking the passionate embrace.

The sudden realisation of what had just happened hit him like a tidal wave. He was still a little tipsy and hadn't fully comprehended what was happening.

"Fuck." he said under his breath, avoiding eye contact with Vegas who slowly removed his hands from Pete. The man stared at him with a look of confusion.

"What's wrong?" he asked, observing Pete's every movement. Pete didn't respond but instead walked away as quick as he could. His head was drowning in thoughts as he felt a hand grip his wrist and prevent him from escaping. "Don't go Pete." Vegas pleaded, his voice lined with despair.

He felt Pete's cold hands stretch over his, loosening his grip on the man.

"Please Vegas... Just leave me alone." he said as he turned away and continued on his way, leaving Vegas alone in the darkness.

Vegas didn't move from the spot as if his feet were cemented into the ground. He slowly raised his hand, grazing the surface of his lips with his fingertips.

A cold tear fell onto his cheek followed by many others. His vision became blurry and an overwhelming melancholy crawled over him. He felt it slowly chip away at the emotional wall he had placed around himself all his life.

He was swallowed whole.
