Chapter 2

Tutor

"For what, dear?"

"Just for a past time, I guess."

Here I am right now in my parents' room asking for their permission to let me attend some swimming lessons. I just think that I need to learn how to swim for future purposes.

"We will ask your Dad first, okay?" Mom said this as she put on her pearl earrings.

It's past six o'clock in the evening and mom is getting ready for the party she and dad will be attending. Mom said I couldn't participate, as if I cared? I don't want to get bored there. They will just talk about politics and politics.

"Do we really need to?"

"Your Dad needs to know everything that you'll do. I'll ask him later." Mom stood up and picked up her branded silver purse that suited her mermaid black gown.

"I'll be going now. Eat your dinner and don't stay up late at night." Then she kissed my temple before she walked away. I sighed in disappointment.

Do I really need to ask permission first? Why can't I just do what I want? It's just swimming and it's not like I am doing the wrong thing!

I trampled on my feet in annoyance as I walked through my room. Nawalan na ako ng ganang kumain. I feel like this family is controlling me, I don't have any freedom. Kahit simpleng bagay lang ay kailangan ko pang ipagpaalam. Paano kapag lumaki na ako?

But in the end, I'll just follow what they said. Aaminin ko, takot ako sa magulang ko, especially to my Dad. I can't take it when he's angry.

Kasalukuyan akong gumagawa ng takdang-aralin ko sa math. Halos sambunutan ko na ang buhok ko nang hindi ko ito maintindihan. Ni isa ay wala pa akong nasasagutan! Bakit ba sobrang hirap nito?

I was about to message Sussie to get some help when someone knocked on my door.

"Ija, pinapatawag ka ni Gov." It was Yaya Kori.

Dad's calling me? Wow, naalala pa niya pala ako! At andito siya? Umuuwi pala siya.

I fixed my messy hair and opened the door immediately, only to find out that Yaya was gone. Busangot ako na tinatahak ang daan ng opisina ni Dad. Of course, he will be in his office as usual.

I knocked at the door. Dad said it's rude not to knock and it's his rule.

"Come in." When I entered the room, Dad, who was reading some papers, greeted me without even looking at me.

"Your Mom told me about swimming. I said yes," my eyes glowed from what I heard.

Dad's allowing me? Yes!
