If you didn't know her, didn't know any of the people at this table, but could see us—she looks like she belongs among our group. She smiles and laughs like she connects effortlessly with everyone here.

It's odd.

All these years, even with her friends, I've never seen her so friendly.

Then again, I've never paid attention to her. She's always been a background character and nothing more than such.

But now?

I drink from my Sprite, watching over my glass as Mihi jokes with Hobi, him having taken Jimin's seat so she is bracketed by him and Seokjin who earlier demanded Namjoon's spot.

Now, I silently curse the fact that no other girl catches my eye or attention.

The fact that she gets along with my friends is...

It feels nice.

I secretly imagine what it'd be like to introduce her as my girlfriend. Would it be this warm of a welcome? Warmer?

Jimin's voice catches my attention as he speaks softly to Yoongi across the table from me.

"Imagine if I would've introduced her as my girlfriend." Jimin chuckles, but Yoongi snorts.

"We would've told her to run, imagine."

I inhale deeply, swirling my glass in my hand before I look to see Jungkook silently watching me from my side.

Exhaling, I look back to my cup. "What?"

Jungkook's quiet when he mumbles a response. "You might not be obvious to anyone else, but I'm not so unaware."

Taking the bait, I turn to him, giving him my attention. "Obvious about what?"

He subtly glances around us and makes sure he's not drawing anyone's interest to our conversation as he leans a bit closer. "That you're jealous about what's going on between Jimin and Mihi."

I don't open my mouth to respond, it doesn't matter what I say because it'll be a lie one way or the other. I raise an eyebrow, and Jungkook continues.

"You know she's off-limits while Jimin's playing. It'll be over before long." Clearing his throat, draws Seokjin to look our way. "Just focus on the girl you've been texting."

Seokjin's eyes go wide, my lips pursing because I've been put in the line of fire now for incessant questioning from not just him, but everyone else at the table.

"You're texting a girl? Who? Since when?"

Jimin's questions come not long after. "How'd I not know you were talking to a girl? I'm your best friend! Does she go to our school?"

God, if I lie and say 'nope, there's no girl', they're going to know it's bullshit. After all, why would Jungkook lie about this? And in front of Mihi, no less.

I clear my throat, looking to the table to keep from meeting her eyes that I can feel burning into the side of my head.

"I can't really say much." I twist my glass on the table, the condensation smearing as I leave rings. "We're hooking up. Suppose to just be that." I glance towards Seokjin, catching Mihi watching from beside him. "She's pretty amazing."

I really like her.

"Are y'all exclusively hooking up? Kinda like dating, but not?" Seokjin continues pondering.

I glance at Mihi again, her cheeks a faint shade of pink. "I haven't been with anyone else. Honestly, no one catches my eye quite like her." She looks away, and it makes me focus back to Jin.
