Baguette Etiquette

"So... when do we get to see the new costume?" (Y/n) ripped a piece off of his baguette and bit into it.

"Is that really the question you want to ask?" (Y/n) asked Nia as he crossed his arms. He, she, and John were all sitting in the kitchen.

"No" Nia admitted with a shy smile.

"What do you want to ask?" (Y/n) asked as John watched with a smirk.

"Can I have a piece of your baguette?" Nia smiled widely, hoping that would help her chances at the large bread.

"Sure thing" (y/n) ripped a piece off of the baguette and held it out to Nia.

She quickly took it and stuffed it into her mouth. "Thas relly goob" she laughed happily as she chewed on the bread. She waited until it was finished before speaking again. "I probably should have eaten it in more than one bite"

"Eat however you like love" John finally spoke. "Can I get a bit?"

"Sure. You got a knife?" (Y/n) held his hand out.

"Just pull it apart like you did for her" John shrugged as he made the motion of ripping the baguette apart.

"John, John, John. You live closer to France than I do, you should know there's a baguette etiquette" (y/n) shook his head as he pulled another piece off of the baguette and bit into it. Nia and John just looked confused."Acquaintances get pieces cut with knives. Close friends get pieces that are ripped off"

"Ah of course. My mistake" John just shook his head before using his magic to summon a knife. "Here" he held the knife out and (y/n) took it.

"We're close friends?" Nia asked with a curious look as she watched (y/n) cut a piece off for John.

(Y/n) handed the piece to John as he considered the answer he would give Nia. "In this case close friends includes women who I find attractive and would like a shot with" Nia's eyes widened at the boys honesty.

"Wow. You're really putting all your cards on the table" John nodded approvingly.

"Well..." Nia started slowly as she held out her hand for a piece of bread which was quickly given to her. She bit into it. "If that's how you feel then I should probably mention that I'm a trans woman"

"I know" (y/n) shrugged off the big news. John didn't really seem to care either.

"You do?" Nia asked with a smile. The feeling that she got when people knew her but still liked her for her never got old.

"Of course I know" (y/n) responded casually. "I'm a superhero fan remember? You announced to the whole world that you're trans after they repealed the alien amnesty act"

"Right. Right. I forgot that you're a hero nerd" Nia couldn't help the way her smile grew wider.

(Comment here if the trans thing made you lose interest in this book. I'm interested to see who leaves. Don't feel bad about it, I would have left too up until a couple weeks ago when I realized I would date a trans woman)

(Y/n) shook his head. "Not a nerd"

"Yes you are" Nia spoke instantly.

"I'm gonna go bugger off" John spoke quietly before standing up and walking away.

"Not a nerd" (y/n) spoke one more time as he bit into another piece of his baguette.

Nia just shook her head. "You are and you should embrace it. I'm a trans girl and you're a nerd. Embrace who you are"

"Speaking of being a trans girl" (y/n) changed the subject quickly. Nia raised an eyebrow and waited for the coming question. "What genitalia do you have?"

Nia blushed and shook her head. "Kinda personal don't you think?"

"Personal but important" (y/n) responded. "So what've you got? Male? Female? Both?"

"Female" Nia's blush finally started to fade as she looked away.

"Oh thank god" (y/n) whispered to himself.

"(Y/n), Sara wants you. Going to fill out your medical file" (y/n) quickly turned to see Nate standing in the doorway.

"Got it" (y/n) nodded as he watched Nate leave. He turned to say bye to Nia but by the time his eyes landed on her her head was on the table and she was fast asleep.

(Y/n) nodded to himself as he stood up. "Must not have gotten any sleep last night"

(If you haven't figured it out from the way I've been doing stuff and the cover for this book I'll tell you now, Nia Nal is going to be the love interest of this book. She's the woman who made me realize I'd date a trans woman, I love her for it.)
