The first time you meet the Engineer, he's perched atop a box in the middle of the battlefield, hammer in hand and eyes fixed on his work. You're not sure what he's building, but it looks like some kind of machine. You approach him cautiously, not wanting to startle him, and ask if he needs any help. He startles slightly at the sound of your voice, but quickly recovers and shakes his head.
"Nah, I got it," he says, turning back to his work. You watch him for a moment, admiring the way he works with such focus and precision. After a few minutes, you can't help but ask him what he's building.
"It's a teleporter," he replies, without looking up from his work. "Gotta get my team back home in one piece."
You can't help but smile at his dedication. You stay and watch him work for a while longer, before eventually heading back to your own team. You don't see the Engineer again until the next battle. He's in the middle of the fray, hammering away at something while bullets fly past his head. You can't help but be impressed by his intellect and courage.
After the battle is over, you approach him and ask if he needs any help. This time, he looks up at you with a smile and nods."Sure thing, darlin'," he says. You spend the rest of the day helping him repair his teleporter. As you work, you get to know him better, and you can't help but be drawn to his kind, gentle nature.Eventually, the two of you become close friends, and you can't imagine a battle without the Engineer by your side.
----
After months of fighting, the war hasn't let up. You and the Engineer are on the frontline, trying to hold back the enemy. The battle is turning against you, and you can feel the fatigue setting in. Suddenly, you hear the Engineer's voice in your head, telling you to fall back. You don't want to leave him, but you know he's right. You retreat, and the Engineer stays behind to hold the line. You watch from a distance as the enemy overwhelsts move in, targeting the Engineer. You can see the despair in his eyes as he realizes he's going to die.But before they can pull the trigger, the Engineer activates his teleporter and disappears in a flash of light. You're relieved that he's safe, but you can't help but feel heartbroken that he's gone. You know that he sacrificed himself so that you could live, and you'll never forget his selflessness.
Engineer approaches you and gives you eight dollars.
"What's this for?" You ask, curious.
"The repairs on your suit," he replies. "You've been patching it up pretty good, but I figured you could use a little help."
You can't help but tear up at his gesture. You take the money and thank him, before embracing him in a hug.Even though the Engineer is gone, you know that he'll always be with you in spirit. He is also on your team in Team Fortress 2, and you'll never forget his kindness, bravery, and friendship.
You launch the game on your computer, ready to play as the Engineer once again.
----
The next day, Engineer greets you with a hug as soon as you log onto the game. You're surprised, but happy to see him."I thought I'd lost you," he says, his voice choking up slightly.
"I'm sorry," you reply, tears streaming down your face. "I didn't mean to leave you behind."
"It's okay," he says comfortingly. "You did what you had to do."
"Well, let's play some Team Fortress 2." You say, trying to change the subject. He nods and logs onto the game with you.
You get into a game and, begin coordinating with your teammates.
"Does everyone know the plan?" You ask, before the match starts.
"Yeah, we got it," Engineer says from beside you. "We'll take 'em down."
"Yeah, don't worry, we totally got this!" Another teammate adds.
The match starts, and you immediately head to the frontlines with Engineer. You work together flawlessly, taking down enemy after enemy.Eventually, your team emerges victorious, and you can't help but feel proud. You turn to high-five Engineer, but he's not there. You look around for him and spot him off in the distance, repairing his teleporter. You smile and shake your head at his dedication; even in victory, he still thinks of others first. You walk over to Engineer and ask if he wants to go to Arby's later.
"Sure thing, darlin'," he says with a smile. "I'll see you there."

AT THE ARBY'S
You and Engineer sit across from each other in the booth, sharing a large order of fries. You can't help but smile at how well you get along; it feels like you've been friends for years.
"So," he says after a few minutes of comfortable silence. "What do you think about my teleporter?"
"It's amazing," you reply honestly. "I don't know how you built it."He shrugs modestly and takes a fry from the pile between you. "Just tinkering around, really." He pauses for a moment before adding, "I'm thinking about building another one."
"Can you teleport me?" You ask
"Of course," he replies with a grin. "Where do you want to go?"
"Undertale." You deadpan.
He raises an eyebrow in confusion. "What's that?"
"A game," you reply, before explaining the plot of Undertale to him. He listens intently, and when you finish, he smiles and nods his head.
"That sounds like a really cool game," he says. "I'd love to play it with you."You can't help but feel touched by his offer; even though he doesn't know anything about the game, he's willing to try it out just so that you can share your favorite hobby with him. You agree to play together, and make plans to meet up later that week.
-----
Later on in the week, you and Engineer are playing through Undertale in preparation to build the teleporter. You're having a blast, and he's even starting to get into the game.
"This is really fun," he says as you make your way through the Ruins. "I can see why you like it so much."
"Yeah, I'm glad you're enjoying it," you reply with a smile. "It means a lot to me that you're willing to try something new just for me."He shrugs modestly and squeezes your hand gently. You squeeze back, feeling grateful for his friendship, and maybe something more?
You finish the game and sit in silence for a while, both of you lost in thought. Eventually, Engineer speaks up."Thanks for playing with me," he says softly. "It meant a lot."
"No problem," you reply, your heart pounding in your chest. "I had fun." You pause for a moment before adding, "Maybe we can do it again sometime?"
"Maybe. We should build the Undertale teleporter first though." Engineer replies."I can't wait." You say, your heart fluttering.Who knows what the future holds for you and Engineer? But one thing is for sure: Undertale.
