You couldn't believe what you were hearing. Medic had been kidnapped? By the enemy?
"How?" you asked, but you already knew. It was something you'd heard a thousand times before. "I have to try and save him," Soldier said simply.
"No," you said softly. You walked over to Soldier and wrapped your arms around him. "I know you'll do anything for us, Soldier. But you need to rest and stay here."
"I know," he said again. "Just don't let me do this alone."
In the back of your mind, you knew that nothing would come of Soldier's words. You had to save Medic yourself, so you could focus on fighting. But somehow, that thought still hurt. Soldier was always by your side, cheering you on in the good times, and there was no doubt that he would be cheering you on in the bad. He was a good friend, but you knew you could only count on yourself here.
You packed up your weapons, loaded your backpack with ammo and medical supplies, and walked outside. The outside air was cool, and you could see the stars glittering above you. "This is the last time we're ever going to lose Medic." You whispered to yourself. "Just remember that. He'll be alright. I'll get him out of there."
----
You arrived at the enemy team's base, prepared to rescue Medic. You found a loose vent and began to crawl through it, following the faint glow of the power cells. You continued crawling until you came to an opening with some lighting, and realized that you were inside of a small chamber. With a loud groan, the vent collapsed behind you. You knew you wouldn't be able to escape through the vent again.
You crept into the room cautiously, but couldn't help but notice the pictures on the wall. They were all photos of the team, their costumes and weapons clearly visible. In a corner, a holographic projector displaying what appeared to be a map on a giant screen.
You drew your weapon and crouched down beside the wall, as a loud boom rang throughout the room. The enemy Spy, Engineer, and Demoman were engaged in a lively conversation about their teammates, and how dangerous the enemy was. At the mention of your team, the Spy, who was obviously the more senior member, stood up. "You're lying, you lying medics." He growled."You're not being very nice." Demoman said with a smirk.
"I wouldn't expect any less from you. Now, it's time to find out why you're here. I have the perfect plan." Spy bragged.
"The teams have been roused for battle, and I want to know why." The Demoman said, looking the Engineer in the eyes with a smirk. "We haven't exactly been playing nice, and our General is quite upset with us."
"I am General of Team YYRN," the Engineer said defiantly. "And I'm not going to let you two get in the way of us destroying the enemy."
"A wise choice." Spy muttered, lighting a cigarette and leaning against the wall.
"Our General says he can beat us." The Spy snickered, raising his eyebrows.
"We have the General's blessing, and an army of 15 fully powered squads." Demoman said as he took a swig of his bottle.
----
You continued sneaking throughout their base, keeping a close eye out for Medic. You came across a door labelled "INTERROGATION ROOM," and knew he'd be in there. However, it was locked.
"Damnit." You muttered, reaching into your pocket for a bobby pin. You weren't great at picking locks, but you didn't need to be, as you quickly popped the lock and entered the room.
You opened the door to reveal nothing but a small pin on a chain. There was a small red button at the bottom of the counter, and Medic was seated in a chair. You picked up the chain and walked over to Medic. "Medic," You whispered, "I'm here to break you out of here." You pressed the button on the chain, and within seconds a bright light was blazing from the center of the room.
Medic jumped out of his chair and ran forward. "[Y/N]!" He exclaimed, "You're here!" You and Medic embraced and began hugging each other, hugging for the longest time. You blushed when you finally pulled apart. "Thank goodness you're alive! I was so scared!"
"I'm so glad you're alright." Medic whispered.
"Why did they have to lock you up here? What did you do?" You asked, looking around the room.
"I refused to give them information about our team." Medic said simply.
"That's it?" You asked, dumbfounded.
"What else would I do?" He asked, shrugging.
"I don't know, but I'm glad you did it." You said, hugging him again. "Now let's get out of here before they come back."
Suddenly, the air was filled with a loud buzzing. You turned to see several robots flying into the room. "What the hell are those things?" You asked, backing away.
"They're Sentry Bots." Medic said, his eyes wide. "And they're not going to let us leave here alive."
"Not without a fight, at least." You said, smirking and drawing your weapon. Medic nodded and did the same, and the two of you prepared to fight your way out.
----
The fight was brutal, but you and Medic defeated the Sentry Bots and made your way back to the surface. You were both exhausted, but the adrenaline was keeping you going. You knew the rest of your team would be worried, so you radioed them to let them know you were coming.
As you walked back into the base, you were greeted by a relieved and happy Soldier. He hugged you and Medic both, and you couldn't help but smile. "Welcome back, you two." He said, his voice thick with emotion.
"We're glad to be back." You said, hugging him again. "Thank you for everything, Soldier. I don't know what we would've done without you."
"Don't thank me." He said, shaking his head. "I didn't do anything."
"You did more than you know." You said, smiling at him. "Now let's go get some rest, we all need it."
Soldier nodded and led the way back to the dorms, the rest of the team following close behind. You knew this wasn't the end of the war, but for now, you were just happy to be alive and with your team. You had Medic back, and that was all that mattered. You gazed at him, blushing a little, as you walked. You knew then that you loved him, and had to admit your feelings to him. But for now, you were content just to be by his side.
(A/N: i'm going to have to continue this again. but soldier quite literally didnt do anything why are you thanking him-)
