"Stay here a minute. I wanna see if it's safe." Jace said as he pushed Clary back after she wanted to walk with the other three shadowhunters. After they walked away Simon turned to me and my sister.
"Why are we doing this?" Simon asked worried.
"Good question. Ask Miss Brave here." I scoffed as I pointed to my sister.
"Alright, what it's your problem?" Clary asked.
"My problem..." I said angry as I stepped closer to her, a glimpse of fear flashing in her eyes seeing me like this. "Is that we are here, with no plan and no idea what the actual fuck we are doing. What if we are walking into a mortal trap and get killed." I asked looking my sister straight in the eyes. She scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"You are overreacting." She said and I folded my arms.
"And you are utterly foolish. Admit it. You just came here because you want to act all brave because Jace proposed this idea. You are so smitten for him." I said rolling my eyes.
"I am not!" She immediately said and I scoffed.
"Yeah right. Even you don't believe that." I said and soon I heard Jace calling.
"Clary. Come on, it's all clear." Jace said and with a smile Clary walked to him and took his hand. I watched as they started to walk away and another scoff left my lips. Yeah, totally not smitten.
"How come you are not freaked out by all of these?" Simon said as we started to follow the others.
"Trust, deep inside, I am making plans how to get out of the country." I commented and he nodded as we walked. Soon I noticed Jace and Clary were far away, walking really fast to the entrance as they talked. "So, mind informing me what it's going to happen to my sister?" I asked Alec and Izzy as they walked by my side. They looked at each other before Izzy spoke.
"The process requires being held above the person's head. The brother's will crave the truth from her head using the blade and this way Clary will have some of her memory back." Izzy explained and I nodded taking in the information.
"How bad will it hurt?" I asked and after I noticed the silence I sighed. "Great. Just what I wished for."
"Melody, you have to understand that if Clary is not ready and won't be able to bare the pain, she will die." Izzy informed. Well that doesn't sound terrifying at all, does it? "Do you think she is prepared?" She asked.
Even I didn't know the answer to that. I looked ahead and I noticed the way Clary was looking at what I think was the entrance. That determined look, I know it too well. "I don't know, but she is a Fairchild." I said and after I saw the raised eyebrows and confused expressions from the two siblings, I gave them a smile. "We are born with an unimaginable level of stubbornness." I said and continued to walk to my sister.
"I can do this..." I heard Clary whispering to herself as she looked terrified at the entrance.
"Yes, you can. You are Clary freaking Fray. You can do anything." Simon said trying to encourage her as I just folded my arms and watched my sister. I wanted to tell her to stop, but I knew she won't listen. Even if I was her older sister, and even though she respects me, her fear of loosing mom was too great to even listen to me.
"Alright. Hold on." Jace said as he stopped Simon from walking ahead to the entrance.
"Surprise surprise. No mundanes allowed. Just like in the training room?" Simon asked Jace as the blondie rolled his eyes. "I've seen every horror movie ever made and the funny best friend that gets left behind...dead men."
"You're not that funny." Jace commented. "But, by all means, go ahead." He taunted and as Simon started to walk again he continued. "Of course, the minute you enter, you will die."
