Richard Adair's POV
"Once upon a time in a land not so far away, there was a spineless king. His name was Relian, first of his name. The spineless king was a great representation of what the House of Kaelan stands for. A lack of gratitude for the privilege to rule a great kingdom like Chea Niva." I closed the book I have been reading carefully. It's old. The pages are delicate. The handful of eyes watching me are quiet. "The spineless king abdicated the throne in pursuit of love. Foolish emotion. It was fitting that the second one to the throne would be Adryan. But Adryan's ambitions did not include wearing a gold crown and sitting on the throne. Adryan was not the gave of the monarchy but the face of the military. He was an exceptional General. The only Kaelan with a spine."I started pacing about the dimly lit place.
"Should an entire house not breed a king, the next house takes the throne. King Treytan's two sons didn't want the throne. One was chasing after love and the other reveled in the art of war and conquests. Adryan abdicated and passed the rulership from the House of Kaelan to the House of Adair. Everything was in writing, set in stone until the day of the coronation when the commander of death decided to set his eyes on the throne he had forfeited. The rest is history, isn't it? We all know what happened, don't we?"
They agreed.
"What happened in Cray Thera was retaliation for the blood that was spilt on the day of the coronation. The House of Kaelan and the House of Adair will always be at war until the extermination of either House. Today is the Memorial of HM King Adryan first of his name. The one who started everything. It's fitting that today, we begin to rip this kingdom apart. If we shall not rise to power then Dargan will not have peace."
I looked towards the device we have been building. It has a soft rumble to it. When it goes off, it will bring the whole Cathedral down.
"Are the remaining members of the House of Kaelan in place?" I spoke on the radio.
"Yes. But the king is hesitant. He's not moving away from the entrance."
I glanced at my watch. Dargan keeps time to the tee. He's running late, lingering at the entrance. His instincts are usually as sharp as a two edged sword. I don't t know how he does it but he can get out of trouble before it strikes. If he lingers, he will leave the church. It shall not happen.
"Arm the device. Clear out! Clear out! This is happening now! Go!" We all began to clear out. We made our way up the tunnel coming out of a manhole a short distance away from the Cathedral at the heart of Carperia.
Once a my men were clear, I pressed the button and watched chaos and panic ensue as the Cathedral came down to nothing but rubble and sand.
"Long live the king." I snarled and walked away leaving the chaos behind me.
