Backstory: Amalthea was born in El Paso, Texas, growing up in a household that cared for tradition and family above all else. She was born on December 23, 2149, at Thomason General Hospital Heliport, the time being 4:30 p.m., and her parents loved her unconditionally. She worked at Spectrum Station, where she met Jason Morales. They got married when she was 29 and got pregnant at 32.
When she gave birth to Cassandra, she was 33. A couple of months after Cassandra was born, Jason died during an engine explosion. Amalthea was distraught but took the position of captain of the U.S.S. starship Memory. Her new title was Captain Amalthea Morales of the U.S.S. starship Memory.
When Cassandra came out as a lesbian, Amalthea was surprised but expected the news. She accepted her daughter's sexuality and happily raised her. When Cassandra was becoming depressed (Cassandra was soon to be diagnosed with kleptomania), Amalthea sent her to therapy while she explored space. When Cassandra turned 17, Amalthea requested that her daughter be placed on Memory for a few years. She didn't know that Cassandra had slowly drifted away from her during that time.
