                                    -Jason-

I woke up in a hospital bed. Everything was black. I looked around in fear until I heard a voice. It was soft and sounded like it came from a woman.

"You brought a child here? He's only twelve! Did you even cover up his disappearance?"

Another voice, similar in pitch, but more monotone, responded.

"His rescuer gave him to us. She reversed as much damage as she could. But it cost a lot of her energy to keep him like that. Her level has gone down by 1."

I activated my ability and lit up the room. My weak ability couldn't do much, but it did provide me light. I looked around again, with the light sending a faint and warm glow across the room.

I was in a small room, it looked like a hospital room. There were two chairs, an oak wood table, and blue curtains. I was wearing a bluish white gown. Everything I had was nowhere to be seen. I looked at my arms and began freaking out.

There were long zig zag scars running along them and they seemed to almost be separating the different sections of my arms. They almost seemed to be floating away, but were  held in place by a black aura. And my right arm was completely gone from the elbow down. All that was there now was a sleek black prosthetic.

"My arms." I whispered in shock.

The two voices were still arguing outside the door. But they seemed to be getting closer.

I pulled back the curtains and was relieved to find a window. I looked out of it and saw a city I didn't recognize. Nothing looked right. I tugged at the window and it flew open. I looked down and saw two stories below me.

This is gonna be miserable, I thought.

I climbed into the window sill and prepared to jump. Right as I was about to leap a hand grabbed the back of my gown and pulled me back in. I looked up to see a woman with blonde hair standing over me. Her golden eyes held nothing but contempt.

"Don't even think of trying to escape. We saved your life, so now you have a debt to pay."

"Oh, get away from him, Valerie, he's in shock." A hand pulled her back and the sound of squeaky wheels invaded my ears. A white aura surrounded me and stood me up.

I was now looking at a woman with white hair and golden eyes. She was in a wheelchair and she was wearing a gown similar to mine.

"Hello, Jason, welcome back. My name is Jane."

I woke up in a sweat and jolted upright. A pain in my stomach sent me right back down. A bloody white bandage covering my stomach had now become even redder from the blood seeping through. I winced and I held the bandage on while I got up.

F*ck, this hurts. When will they get the memo?

I quickly replaced the bandage and threw clothes out of my drawer. I slapped on a pair of black pants and a white t-shirt.

I took my phone off of the charger and read my notifications.

John and Sera, huh?

I opened the group chat and read through it.

John: you better get up, we're coming over to drag you to the mall.

Sera: and if you don't, I'm gonna steal your TV.
