A teenage boy entered his first real school building. His shining silver hair brushed in front of his eyes. His uniform was brand new and his mind was set on how he was going to live his life.

He walked into the office and met with headmaster Vaughn.

"It says here that your ability is light manipulation?" Vaughn asked him.

"Yes sir."

"What exactly can it do?"

"When my bare skin touches any light, sunlight being the most efficient, I can use my ability to bend and harden light that stems from that skin."

"So, if you're wearing shoes, that means you can't channel energy there without taking them off."

"Precisely."

"Very interesting. Are there any questions you have?"

"I have a sister here, Seraphina, I'd like to know her schedule and dorm room. I'd like to surprise her. She doesn't know I'm here yet."

"Of course," the man behind the desk typed something on a computer and a printer spewed out a paper. He turned around and handed the silver haired teen two papers.

"The one on the left is your schedule." He told the boy.

As the boy walked out of the office he turned to Vaughn one last time.

"And please, keep my abilities off the books, I'd just prefer if people thought my ability was flash bang."

Vaughn smiled.

"Sure thing kid."

The boy walked out and went to his first class.

The teacher stood up and announced the new student. "Class, this is Jason, he is a new student here, so help him out and treat him with respect. Is there something you would like to say to them, Jason?"

"I hope we can get along." The boy said with a pessimistic tone.

After a grueling hour of math the class was excused and a girl with blue hair walked up to him.

"Hey Jason, I'm Elaine. How was your first class?"

"To be honest, I have no clue what half of these terms mean." Jason said.

"Did you go to any school before this one?"

An image of kids in brown school uniforms made it's way to the front of his mind.

"I went to Agwin. I came here because my sister got into here."

"Really? Who is she?"

"Seraphina."

The whole room went silent. A kid with black hair perked up.

"As in our ace?"

"Purple hair, blue eyes, impossibly fast..."

"T-that's the one." Elaine said.

"Oh. Why do you seem surprised?"

"She's the strongest student in the region!" Elaine exclaimed.

"Wow. That's nice for her, I guess. Anyway, I gotta go, I'm almost late for my next class." Jason said, walking out of the classroom. He looked down at his phone and plugged in earphones.

On his way to his next class he was shoved into the lockers by two students that most low tiers knew as Krolik and Lin.

"Hey new kid. That's a nice phone you've got there. Would you mind letting us see it?" Krolik said.

"Yeah, I do mind, I'm almost late to class." Jason replied, getting a feeling of how these people acted.

"Ooh, he's fiesty. This doesn't need to get bloody, just submit to us as your superiors." He said.

Jason raised his hands in surrender.

Krolik smirked.

"Good."

Then Jason's eyes began glowing and a bright light emitted from his hands. The flash was so intense that Krolik and Lin let Jason go and covered their eyes.

Krolik swung punches randomly hoping to hit something. Lin began shooting needles in panic and nailed the walls and random students.

Then Jason thrust his fists into Krolik's stomach twice. Before he could fall down Jason grabbed his tie and pulled him forward and slammed Krolik's nose against his forehead. with a sickening crunch, Krolik fell to the floor.

The flash effect wore off of Lin and all he saw was students glaring at him. They zeroed in on Lin and activated their abilities. Meanwhile, Jason walked down the hallway and into the lunchroom.

Jason quickly grabbed his food and looked for a place to go. A kid with heavily gelled hair tapped on his shoulder.

"You looking for a place to sit?" He asked.

"Yeah." Jason replied.

"Follow me."

He doesn't look too threatening. He looks wholesome, even. Jason thought to himself.

They walked up three floors and arrived at a door. The black haired kid pushed it open and they emerged on a roof. Sitting down in the opposite side was Seraphina, the ace.

She looked up from her phone and looked shocked when she saw Jason.

"Jace?"

"Hey little sis, how have you been?"
