Lux's POV
"Yes, I want to be adopted by Ms. Morrison." I say with 100 percent certainty.
I see the smile on her face grow as she comes towards me and pulls me into a tight hug. I stiffen at first when she does this but quickly relax and accept the hug.
We linger in the hug for a few more seconds until we are interrupted by the voice of Ms. Dorris
"I'd hate to break up this beautiful moment." She says with her voice dipping in sarcasm.
"But Ms. Morrison I have some paperwork that you need to fill out." Ms. Dorris informs Jennifer.
"Oh okay! I was just wondering how long will it be until I can take Lux home?" I hear her ask.
"In about a week or so after all the paperwork is signed." Ms. Doris states calmly.
"A week?!" I say in surprise
"How long does signing a few pieces of paper take?!" Jennifer says getting as angry as I felt.
"I think both of you are underestimating how much paperwork is needed." Ms. Dorris says.
"Why don't I show you how much paperwork is really needed." She says as she goes into the home office and retrieves a book that looks as thick as a skull.
As soon as Jennifer and I see the book both of our jaws drop in pure shock. The book is absolutely massive!
"Is that whole book paperwork?" I say in amazement.
"Not all of it only about a quarter of the book is. The rest is just information about adoption." Ms. Doris says all too calmly.
"Well good luck with that one!" I say while turning to face Jennifer.
"Well better go back home to get this started." Jennifer says as she begins to collect her things.
"Well goodbye Jennifer! Thank you again for adopting me." I say sincerely.
"You know Jennifer sounds too formal, you can just call me Jen." She informs me.
"Well then I'll see you in a week Jen." I say testing out the new nickname.
"I will see you in a week Lux or however long it will take to get through this encyclopedia." She says as she walks out the door and into her car.
