The Rain

It's raining outside.

I want to hold my umbrella over your head, but I know I can't.

You're not with me anymore.

I close my umbrella so I can feel the rain as it sends chills through my body.

As it drips from my hair, to my nose, then finally crashes to the ground,

I can't help but think of you.

Both you and that drop of rain left me alone.

You both slipped away from me and into a crowd disappearing as if you never existed in the first place.

It continues to rain.

I don't know if it will ever stop.

And as the rain clears for others I'm still soaking wet.

So I'll always have an umbrella, so if anyone else also has to deal with the rain, I will hold my umbrella over their head just as I would have done for you.
