Chapter 2: Who turned out the lights!?

The day started normally for Y/N, just napping on his mattress in the darkness. Until he was suddenly woken up. Not by his alarm clock, but instead by a bunch of text pings in his friend's groupchat.

SurginSquid: GUYS HAVE YOU WATCHED THE NEWS YET!?

SunSurfer: Nah not yet, what's going on?

SurginSquid: OFF THE HOOK JUST REPORTED THE GREAT ZAPFISH IS GONE!

Sina. : Crap. Without it we're gonna be feeling the effects of a city wide blackout in a couple days.

SunSurfer: Shit. It hit any of y'all yet?

SurginSquid: Nah. I grew up with two parents who were nuts about alt energy. I'm no different.

Sina. : I live right up near the plaza so I'm good.

SunSurfer: Alright fresh, all my stuff works too.

CM0NSTER: 8 pings in like 2 minutes, jeez guys I'm up.

SurginSquid: Not the time for jokes man.

CM0NSTER: Yeah ik, just scrolled up. That's wild.

SunSurfer: Ngl man, you don't seem very phased by this.

CM0NSTER: Usually didn't have power growin up, so this isn't much of a change.

Sina. : Dude, your childhood sucked.

CM0NSTER: It wasn't that bad guys.

SurginSquid: Everytime you tell us about your childhood, it sounds more and more like you were put in prison as a kid.

Y/N then finally decided to get up after that. He flipped the light switch on only to find, sure enough, no lights. Thankfully Y/N was pretty used to navigating in the dark, so it helped to confirm that his power was in fact already gone.

CM0NSTER: Welp. Everything is out guys. Officially powerless.

SurginSquid: Shit dude that's awful!

SunSurfer: Sorry to hear it man.

Sina. : If you need to, there's an extra room at my place you can stay at for a bit.

CM0NSTER: Sina, you are the inkin best. I'll go get some of my stuff.

Sina. : Be there in ten.

Y/N then quickly put his phone in his pocket and grabbed a couple things from his apartment. Y'know the essentials + keyboard/laptop + Lenni and Triton in a travel tank. Sure enough by the time he was done, he heard a knock at his door. He walked over and sure enough Sina was there with her van.

Sina: Load up and let's get out of here before traffic really gets bad.

Y/N: Gotcha. Thanks for this.

Sina: Oh its no problem, I would've done this for any one of you guys.

Y/N: Still, doesn't detract from how grateful I am.

Y/N then loaded his stuff into the backseat of the van before sliding into the front with his snails in his lap. Sina then began to drive as the two just sat there in silence for a moment. Y/N looked out the window for a bit, thinking about the whole zapfish situation. Sina finally decided to break the silence.
