Sunpelt opens his eyes and sees a forest that he does not recognize.
"So he came" rasps a gray tom with blue eyes.
"Jayfeather, you know he would" meows a black she-cat with wounds all over her body.
"Who are you?" meows Sunpelt looking from Jayfeather to the black she-cat.
"Come and follow us" meows Jayfeather.
Jayfeather runs off into the undergrowth leaving Sunpelt standing there.
"Best you follow him young one" meows the black she-cat.
Sunpelt just nods and races off into the undergrowth following Jayfeather's scent. He comes into a clearing where Jayfeather sits licking his paws.
"Four of kin, one strong, one wise, one powerful, one to be feared, and one dream walker" meows Jayfeather.
"Wait Jayfeather what does it me-" meows Sunpelt before being awakened by a paw hitting his shoulder.
"Sunpelt stop, your gonna wake the whole clan" meows Riverstorm.
"Sorry Riverstorm, nightmare" meows Sunpelt as he gets up.
"Well have it somewhere else" meows Riverstorm a hint of laughter in his voice.
Sunpelt nods and walks out of the den. Standing in the moonlight he sees Ravenpelt nervously moving around outside the medicine den.
"Ravenpelt is everything okay?"
"Go see for yourself" she meows.
"Ok then"
Sunpelt walks into the Medicine den, the moss covering folding around his fur.
"Ravenstar please just rest!" meows Brightpuddle trying to keep her cool.
"I need Whitefur and Riverstorm before I will rest" growls Ravenstar.
Brightpuddle turns her head.
"Sunpelt can you get Whitefur and Riverstorm please" meows Brightpuddle.
"I'll get them" meows Sunpelt.
Sunpelt walks over to the warrior's den, thoughts flying around in his head. Why does Ravenstar need a senior warrior and a deputy? He pokes his head into the den.
"Riverstorm and Whitefur, medicine den" Sunpeltmeows.
He doesn't wait for a reply and rushes across the clearing.
"Can you teach me some fighting moves?" meows a voice.
Sunpelt freezes.
"Skykit, shouldn't you be in the nursery?" meows Sunpelt.
"I can't sleep" meows Skykit.
"Nightcloud must be worrying about you" meows Sunpelt.
"She's asleep, please Sunpelt?"
"Fine but come with me" Sunpelt meows as he flicks his tail toward the medicine den and begins moving toward it.
"Wait why the medicine den?" meows Skykit loudly.
"Quiet now"
Sunpelt moves as the moss folds around his fur. Brightpuddle turns her head.
"Sunpelt and Skykit?" asks Brightpuddle surprised.
"Sorry Brightpuddle, Skykit can't sleep"
"No problem, follow me Skykit" meows Brightpuddle.
Sunpelt watches Brightpuddle lead Skykit into a hole in the den rock wall.
"Sunpelt, is that you?" meows Ravenstar.
"Yes, Ravenstar should I leave?"
"No no, stay you need to hear me too" meows Ravenstar.
Sunpelt hears the moss entrance move.
"Sunpelt, what's going on?" meows Whitefur a yawn passing through.
"Well it's com-" starts Sunpelt.
Brightpuddle exits the crack in the wall and looks at Whitefur and Riverstorm.
"Good Ravenstar needs to talk to you" meows Brightpuddle.
"Ok then" meows Riverstorm.
Sunpelt, Riverstorm, and Whitefur move towards Ravenstar while Brightpuddle leaves the den.
"Ravenstar what's going on?" meows Whitefur
"Whitefur, the tom from Windclan has blinded me," meows Ravenstar.
"Well, why are Sunpelt and Riverstorm here then?" meows Whitefur alarm rising in his voice.
"Oh, that" Ravenstar begins "Whitefur you will no longer be deputy by the end of today, Riverstorm will be" meows Ravenstar.
"You can't do that!" yowls Whitefur.
A cat enters the medicine den.
"Stop your yowling Whitefur and he can do this StarClan has approved of his decision" meows the cat.
"Brightpuddle tells StarClan that I will end this one way or another!" yowls Whitefur, his fur bristling.
Stunned, Sunpelt just watches on helplessly.
