Chapter 21: Pet keeping

Riku's bed was surrounded by octopuses. His bedroom was so full of walking octopuses that he could barely move around the room.

"So boring." Riku groaned as he sat on the bed with a bunch of small octopuses crawling over him.

The octopuses tightly wrapped their tentacles around Riku and hugged him. They squeaked like mice.

"Riku! Did you adopt those octopus as pets?" Pega entered Riku's room exclaiming.

Riku grinned.

"I've been babysitting these critters for over three months." Riku replied.

At this moment, Pega was slightly shocked. He recalled his months spending time with Riku to take care of little octopuses in a swimming pool behind Riku's house. The slimy sensation on the octopuses as Pega's fingers touched their bodies. The wetness on Pega's skin as the octopuses squirted water on his body while playing with him and Riku.

"Kengo's months of housekeeping with cats jumping around his house is like a tough one. Kengo sneezes a lot when their fur comes into his nose, and he nearly blows his nose off in one occasion when cleaning a clutter of cat hair balls in the living room and even in Akito's bedroom. Luckily Kengo's cats didn't make a mess of his botanical garden." Riku said to Pega.

"Raising octopus as a pet is hard work. There were a few days when I was cleaning in the kitchen, then an octopus crawled out of the pool and sprayed a jet of black ink on the floor right where I was standing. I almost tripped and fell on the floor." Pega lamented.

"Hiroyuki keeps some cats and sometimes gets tired when the cats eat his food. All the cats at his house are really naughty, no joke intended. I went to Hiroyuki's house to play and also met his cats." Riku replied.

"Did you know any of Hiroyuki's cats? There is a special cat among them. A cat with black and cinnamon fur whose name is Titas." Pega said.

"Oh dear, I remember that. Hiroyuki adores this one." Riku said.

Pega: "Once the cat Titas hid in Hiroyuki's laundry basket and hid in his dirty clothes."

Riku: "Then Hiroyuki took that cat out of the laundry basket and took it to the bath?"

Pega: "Yes. But then when Hiroyuki put the dirty clothes in the washing machine, the cat jumped out."

Riku: "From where?"

Pega: "The bathroom. The cat got freaked out when it turned the sink faucet on and water flowed out from the faucet."

Keiwa was busy cooking breakfast for himself and family. He stir-fried pork with miso sauce, eggplants and green bell peppers. A hot pot of rice was cooked by his own hands, with two bowls of rice and two pairs of chopsticks on the table together with two bowls of miso soup that were equally fragrant.

"OK, I've finished cooking, honey." Keiwa breathed a sigh of relief.

Ace took a ladle and fetched two bowls of rice for himself and for Keiwa, and then sat down with him at the table. They sat together side by side.
