It was the early morning of April 7th, a day marked as the nemesis of all students of Japan since that was the date that most schools started the school year, and that was the same in Kogen High
The students were still coming in for their first day of high school, and among the crowd of students walking toward the main school building was Tsukigata Haruka. He by most parameters looked pretty ordinary, short black hair, dark brown eyes, about 6 cm taller than average, and had a pretty handsome face, but not as handsome as his popular senpais
He kept walking forward alongside the other students as he read a small book, his face had a blank expression as he read the book. Eventually, as he was about to take another step forward, he stopped in his tracks, then a shadow jumped down from one of the cherry trees that covered the sides of the main entrance path right above him...
"W-Watch out!"
Hearing a desperate and girly voice, Haruka simply gave a large back step without removing his eyes from the book, then someone landed right on the spot he was at just moments ago, the person was a cute girl wearing the school uniform with a loose dark purple and black flowery kimono and a red scarf over it, as she made a pretty cool landing pose, even if by accident
The girl quickly got up and dashed toward Haruka with a worried and desperate face
"Awawawa! I-I'm sorry! A-Are you hurt anywhere!?"
"... *Closes book* I'm okay"
"I-Is that so?... Whew... That's great"
"Oi! You can't go climbing and jumping down from our trees like that! And those clothes are against the rules!"
The teacher who was responsible for receiving the students, saw the girl jumping down from the cherry tree, and promptly shouted at her in anger. Making both the girl and Haruka look at the teacher, who was clearly angry
"Awawawa! He saw me!"
"..."
Haruka simply stayed silent as he put his book inside his school bag before he turned his face toward the girl
"I think we should start running"
"G-Good idea!"
With that, the two began running away from the teacher, who promptly began to chase after them. The two were running away pretty fast, but the teacher was able to keep up with them
"Aaaaah! He's getting closer!"
When the girl looks to her back she saw that the teacher was slowly getting closer to them
"I-I'm sorry! B-But I'll have to leave you behind! I'm really sorry!"
The girl said that to Haruka with teary eyes and the really desperate face of someone who didn't want to that
"It's fine"
Without any sign of being worried or desperate, Haruka simply said that as he waved his hand showing that it wasn't that big of a deal
"I'm sorry! Kuwako-style clone swap!"
The girl then rapidly made a series of signs with her hands, and leaped as she threw a smoke bomb on the ground, then... A pretty big stuffed fox plushie appeared out of the smoke in the place of the girl
"..."
Haruka without any sign of being impressed by that simply grabbed the fox plushie and kept running forward, before he turned on a corner
"Now I got you!... What?"
When the teacher reached the corner, Haruka was nowhere to be seen, he had disappeared without leaving a single trace, which left him completely confused
Meanwhile, somewhere else
The girl safely landed on the floor of the rooftop, how she got there? doesn't matter. All that mattered, was that her teary face was only getting tearier, as she fell to her knees and then onto her fours
"Uuuuuuh... I failed as a ninja, and abandoned an innocent person who only got in trouble because of me... Uuuuuuhhhh... ... ... Huh?"
As tears fell from her eyes and towards the floor, she then noticed the shadow of someone standing in front of her. When she lifted her face to see who it was, she was greeted by someone holding one of her stuffed fox plushies in front of them, then the person inclined to the side revealing it was Haruka
"You forgot this"
"Ah! My clone doll! Thank you!"
"You're welcome"
The girl thanked Haruka for giving back her clone doll, but then a few moments passed, and then seconds passed, it was only when a full minute had passed, that the girl noticed one very important thing
"Wait... How did you find me here so quickly!?"
"I just guessed, you would probably come to the rooftop since it's the most obvious place for a ninja to flee towards"
The girl then lowered her head just enough to hide her face from Haruka's view, and she began speaking in a deep tone...
"... Not only did you find me here, but you also had noticed me before I had landed back then and even managed to keep up with me... Does that mean that... ... ... You're a master ninja!"
The girl ended her sentence in a tone of amazement and admiration, to the point that Haruka even felt like he was seeing a waging fox tail behind her as he made a thinking expression
"Hmmm... I... Guess, you can call me that, yes"
"Waaaaaahhh! Amazing! Ah! T-That's right! W-where are my manners! I'm Kubo Kuwako, and I plan on becoming the greatest ninja in Japan!"
Kuwako had gotten up and respectfully bowed down to Haruka. When she had gotten up, he was able to get a good view of how she looked, short brown hair, amber eyes, about 162 cm in height, and a very cute face with a very cheerful personality
"I see, that's a nice goal to have. Well, I'm Tsukigata Haruka. Nice to meet you, Kubo-san"
"Yes! It's nice to meet you too, Tsukigata-san!... And sorry for involving you earlier"
"It's fine. Although I prefer calmness and quietness, I don't mind getting involved in that kind of stuff. In fact, I quite enjoyed what happened earlier"
Haruka showed Kuwako a smile of someone who had fun just now as he said that and hearing it made Kuwako's spirit get more pumped up as well
"I also liked it! And I even managed to meet a master ninja like you Tsukigata-san!"
"That's good. And if you're fine with it, I'm also fine with it. Anyways, we need to get going, the teachers might soon call us for the entrance ceremony, so we need to be at the gymnasium soon enough"
"Ah! That's true! Then let's get going!"
And in a very cheerful mood, Kuwako opened the door of the rooftop and lead the way, Haruka stood there for a few moments as he looked towards the open door with a small smile on his face
"..." <She definitely doesn't know the way to the gymnasium>
