11. Ballon D'Or

Tonight is the Ballon d'Or and, due to the recent pandemic, Chelsea had planned to celebrate at Stamford Bridge.

It had only been a couple of days since Mason and Alina kissed, and since they agreed to take it slow.
They're keeping it a secret so far from the public and friends, or at least some of them, Mason had been bragging about the kiss to some of his teammates, he couldn't keep his excitement in.

Other than that, they've just been texting for most of the time, both being very busy, it was the easiest way for them to check up on each other.

Mason was already at Stamford Bridge with his fellow teammates who have also been nominated. Despite not being able to attend the ceremony at the theatre, they will be there via zoom.

Mason knows he's not going to win, but he's still excited to see where he'll end up in the ranks. Alina had called Mason early this morning, wishing him good luck. That was all he needed to calm his nerves.

She's watching the ceremony from home with Carlotta and Emelia. They're all super excited for Chelsea, but especially Mason. Photos had been posted on Instagram and Alina smiled at the pictures that Mason was in. He looked incredible in his suit.

"Where do you guys reckon he'll end up?" Carlotta asked the two girls

"I think top 15," Emelia confidently said.

"Yea, I was thinking the same," Carlotta agreed.

"What about you, Ali?" Emelia asked.

"Mmm, I'm not sure, maybe lucky number 19?," she smiled. "Aww, that would be perfect actually," Carlotta smiled

The ceremony had started, and the girls were watching it excitedly while eating popcorn. It felt like an eternity until they would rank the players, but here it was.

"Omg, that's him," Carlotta pointed hysterically

The girls looked at Mason's picture and the video they had chosen. It was the goal he scored against Real Madrid in the semifinals last season.

"And lucky number 19," Alina smiled clapping her hands excitedly

"Ahh, that's actually decent, you know, for his first nomination," Emelia said as the girls agreed.

They continued to watch, and near the end it was time for the club of the year award, it's the first time they hand out this award, and of course Chelsea had won it. The players and coaches from Chelsea appeared on the screen and answered the questions that were asked.

The three girls watched excitedly and listened to every word that was said by the coaches and the players. Alina felt her heart beat fast. She was so happy for Mason. Despite knowing him for a couple of weeks, she knows how much this means to him based from all the conversations they've had about his football life.

The ceremony ended around 11 p.m. and Carlotta and Emelia went home. Alina got ready for bed but quickly texted Mason to congratulate him, she didn't want to call and disturb him.

Alina placed her phone down on the night stand next to her bed. She laid down under the covers and smiled to herself. She's thinking about tomorrow, she's finally meeting Mason again. He has training in the morning, but she will come over to his house during the evening and spend time together.

She's also leaving London in two days to go to France with Carlotta and the team for a photo shoot with a French rapper. It's only in the UK the pandemic is being taken extra carefully, in France they're all back to how it used to be before. Alina and the team are lucky to be able to travel there because it's part of their job. She's going to be away for a whole week with the team which means she won't see Mason for a whole week. Hopefully it won't cause any problems between them.
