You loved Zhongli dearly.

Of course, with him working at the funeral parlor with Director Hu Tao, you wouldn't see him that often.

But when you did it brightened up your whole day.

Like today!

"Zhongli!" You exclaimed, rushing into his arms.

Whenever it was these type of days, Zhongli and you would always go to Liuli Pavillion. It was fine since Childe somehow already covered the bills.

He'd remain his calm and collective self while you'd be really hyper.

He chuckled deeply, "Y/n, you're so excited to see me today. More than usual. Has something occured?"

"No, it just gets lonely without you here."

He sipped his tea while you were lost in golden hues. So lost you didn't even realise he offered you some.

"Huh?" You snapped out of your trance when you heard a 'cling' sound. "Of course."

You were busy cooling down your tea to not see Zhongli peering over your head, looking at some guy admiring you.

That made Zhongli mad.

How dare someone that wasn't him stare at you? That was unacceptable.

He decided to keep up the sweet, innocent act until you left.

Then we'll see who's bleeding now.

Lucky for him, you needed to go to the bathroom.

"Love, I'll be back, I'm going to use the restroom," You said, already leaving.

"Alright then, darling," he responded.

You blushed at the nickname he used before leaving.

Perfect timing.

Zhongli got up from his seat and walked over to the man.

"Isn't it funny how you never even got the chance to talk to her before your death? I think it's humorous that you even acted like you had a chance."

There was a body on the floor. A bloody, unorganized body on the floor. Without realising or hesitation, Zhongli had kicked the man to floor and stepped on his right eye. His thick shoe muffling the man's screams. Zhongli had kicked his leg multiple times a huge gash was formed and blood oozed out. He stabbed his tongue, heart and throat. The man was full-on dead now.

Zhongli was aware you would come back soon, so he quickly disposed of the body, cleaned himself up and returned to what he was doing before.

As soon as you returned, it felt a bit chilly. Like a ghost scene from a play.

"It's kinda cold in here," you shivered.

"I can offer you my jacket, if you like," Zhongli suggested.

"It's fine, I don't need it–" You were interrupted by a sneeze comming from yourself.

Despite your protests, Zhongli gave you his warm jacket.

It was cute.

You smiled softly.

Zhongli loved that smile. He'd do anything to see that smile. He'd do anything to protect that smile.

It was his smile.

That brightened up his day. Other than seeing you, of course.

"We should leave before it gets dark," you said.

Wangshu Inn was quite a long distance, so Zhongli asked if he could carry you.

"Only if you want to," You replied.

Oh how you wished you hadn't said that.

It felt so embarrassing to be carried through Liyue Harbor by the one and only Wangsheng Funeral Parlor consultant, Zhongli. If Childe saw you like this, you wouldn't hear the end of it.

Fortunately, he wasn't here.

When you two arrived, your eyes landed on a letter that was placed on a stool. It was addressed to you.

This feels familiar.

Zhongli picked it up and handed it to you curiously.

You opened it.

To Y/N L/N

Te amo.

By Someone.

A short and almost illegible letter.

Zhongli wanted to read it but didn't want to seem to eager, so he just waited until you needed him.

You furrowed your eyebrows as Zhongli walked towards you.

"Is something wrong, dear?" He asked.

You handed him the letter.

You could see a tint of anger in his eyes. He's been around for thousands of years, maybe he understood what it said?

"Can you read it?" You inquired.

“I apologize, I cannot.”

You decided to not question it and left the letter on the balcony. Hopefully, Xiao would just throw it away if he saw it.

You felt someone wrap their arms around your was and lightly kiss you on the neck. You blushed once again.

"Love, shouldn't we go to bed?" You asked.

"Of course. Anything for you."
