you sat in silence, hands cuffed together in front of you, resting in your lap. you hadn't lifted your eyes from the table in front of you once through the entire meeting. you didn't get a kick out of being held against your will, less so with this particular group of people.

"well, it's settled," tony cleared his throat, nodding his head slightly.

"i wouldn't say that exactly," clint mumbled under his breath, eyes glaring at anyone but you. steve let out a heavy sigh, running a hand over his face.

"it's not permanent," steve tried to make the situation more digestible but not one single person was thrilled about any of this.

"thank god," you murmured, a small scoff leaving your lips. you felt the harsh, disapproving glare of one steve rogers but ignored it with an frustrated eye roll.

you hadn't exactly come to terms with your new situation but you were very aware that you had very few options to pursue. you hadn't quite given up, you were sure you could find some way out of this, you just needed time to come up with something.

"in the meantime," tony spoke up again. the tension in the room could be cut with a knife. "y/n you'll be installed with an anklet for security, so we can keep an eye on you. this means you won't be permitted to exit the compound at any point other than to complete missions with the team."

you clenched your teeth, you couldn't look at any one of them without feeling like you'd explode so you kept your head down. "this is bullshit."

"this is punishment, and consequence for your actions," steve barked back at you. usually calm and level headed in every situation, you were the one person that riled him up in a way he couldn't control. "something you haven't had to deal with until now. so get used to it."

"this is something we'll all have to adjust to," tony chimed in again. he didn't look at you once, which only fuelled your anger. "y/n is part of the team whether we like it or not,"

"not," wanda interjected.

"and as a precaution we will be assigning one of you to keep a close eye on her. to train with her, pair up with her on missions, even sleep in the same quarters," everyone waited with baited breath, praying it wasn't one of them. "barnes," tony glanced at the solider sat in the corner who's head shot up when he heard his name. he opened his mouth to protest but was cut off quickly. "you're pretty familiar with this sort of thing, so you'll be in charge of her."

"do i get a say in who's in charge of me?" you spoke through gritted teeth. they were treating you like a wild animal, something to be contained and controlled. which you would not.

"no," steve shut you down immediately. "no one has much of a say in any of this. this is how it'll be from now on, everyone will have to like it or they can leave."

no one said a word.

"great," steve nodded. "we're all on the same page."

"bullshit," you mumbled under your breath.

you were shown to your quarters of the compound, it was pretty secluded from everyone else. there was only one other room next to yours, and that was for bucky. you hadn't seen him since the meeting, so much for keeping an eye on you.

you finally had a moment to yourself, you sat alone in your room, the monitor around your ankle was heavy and flashing red. the layout of your room was quite similar to the one you used to occupy in the old stark tower. only, it had been stripped of any luxuries and was purely a bed, some sheets and a table with a lamp.

there was a knock on the door after a while that pulled you out of your thoughts. they didn't wait for a response before the entered. it was bucky.

"training in five," he mumbled, hand still resting on the handle as he barely looked at you. he met your eyes for a second before pulling away.
