Kate ran the fire escape until she reached the edge, and quickly used it to propel herself over to the other side

She landed on a closed dumpster and got off without much effort and adjusted the purple sunglasses she was wearing

Kate: Is this it? Are you sure?

A small blue light on the side of the glasses turned on

V.A.L: The majority of complaints converge here, Ms. Bishop

Kate: Right

The young hero stood straight as she looked around at the alley she landed in. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary

Kate: Right...

She switched visions as she looked around

Kate: Let's see what we got here

Katie had received multiple noise complaints from various sources around this neighborhood. Too many in the span of a day

Naturally, she sought to investigate what could this be about

Hey, it's what she's got. With no supervillains in sight, she had to keep herself busy somehow

She reached the end of the alley and continued to look around when the AI spoke again

V.A.L: Are you sure you don't want to get Mr. L/N involved in this case?

Kate stopped in her tracks the moment this was brought up

Kate: No! No no no

She shook her head as if the point hadn't been reinforced enough

Kate: Y/N is busy with something incredibly important, and I'll never forgive myself if he missed it because of me

V.A.L: Understood

Kate nodded before she continued scanning the area

The bell chimed as you opened the door to the cozy restaurant, but instead of being greeted with the typical restaurant welcome, you heard a couple of gasps

???: Who's that I see?

Before you even had a chance to react you were pulled into a tight hug by an unseen force

???: There you are, kid!

Someone else joined the hug, even though you already knew who it was, her black locks of hair just served as a confirmation

So with a laugh, you hugged your moms back

You: I'm sorry I took so long!

You broke the hug and got a better look at the older women. One, a strawberry blonde with vibrant blue eyes, and another with black hair and brown eyes and tanned skin

The blonde, Mia pinched your cheek with a grin

Mia: Just give me a couple minutes. My shift's almost over

She let go and headed back to work before her boss said something to her, leaving you with Luna. She grabbed your wrist and guided you to another part of the restaurant

Luna: Come on, our table's that way

You followed Luna to a table not far from the counter, where a drink and a half-eaten sandwich were waiting

Luna was a working girl back then, trying to make ends meet when she accidentally became a witness of a tragedy, the one that cost you everything

She couldn't afford it, and her girlfriend Mia wouldn't spend a minute without arguing about how difficult it would make things, but her heart couldn't take it when nobody came to pick you up from the police station
