CHAPTER SIXTEEN

I rang the door bell and her Mom answered. I didn't realize it was so late

Me: good evening. I'm so sorry I'm here so late
Mrs A: oh, that's fine. You need something?
Me: I was wondering if Kim is still up. I need to apologize to her before I go to bed
Mrs A: oh my, come on in

I did and she said she was going to get her

Kimberly's POV

My mom came in

Me: who was that?
Mom: a guy. The one you've been seeing
Me: what guy?
Mom: I don't know him. He has charming grey eyes and blonde hair and he's in a tux and he looks cute
Me: Nicholas?

Jayden came in

Jay: yep
Me: tell him to get lost. I don't want to see him
Mom: aww, c'mon sweetie, he looks so distressed
Me: he deserves it
Mom: just go see him. Take a walk, hear him out
Me: I'd have to change
Jay: no, you look great in that dress. Go

Jayden's POV

She sighed and left

Mom: who is the guy
Me: someone who might probably be her first boyfriend

Nicholas' POV

She came down, still in that dress. I just stood there staring

Kim: uh hey
Me: can we talk
Kim: couldn't it wait?

I sighed

Kim: let's just take a walk
Me: sure

Felt like she was sending me away

Me: first I'm sorry for ignoring you today

Kim: I'm past that
Me: no you're not. It was wrong of me. I cared more about the public appearance than I cared about you. I knew when you stopped midway and I still didn't turn back, even when I knew it hurt
Kim: yeah right
Me: I wasn't trying to get back or something. I love you and I kissed you. I don't even regret it. Just wished it was longer. The reaction wasn't expected because I felt you felt the same way towards me
Kim: what do you think?
Me: yesterday, I thought I was imagining things, caught up in a fantasy but now, I'm not. You're scared I'll hurt you. You're scared we won't last. You feel the same way
Kim: you should really keep walking

I noticed I had stopped. I pulled her back and pulled her close. She looked up at me

Me: Kim, stop playing this game. Why are you still holding back?
Kim: Nick, I...
Me: tell me you don't feel the same way and I'll leave you and find a way to get you out of my head and move on, if I can

She stared at me. Her green eyes shone with emotions

Kim: you know we can't handle this
Me: why not? Because two popular kids fell in love, answer me

I sighed. This was getting nowhere. I had her trapped yes but she still wasn't conforming to it. I wasn't sure what else to do. My phone rang. I pulled it out. Kylie. I'm guessing she saw that. She scoffed and turned. Every movement in that gown made her more beautiful. I hung up.

Kim: you should pick that up. You shouldn't keep your girlfriend waiting
Me: she's not my girlfriend. I met her when I went to pick up Hailey and what the heck Kim?
Kim: forget it. I should go in before my mom calls
Me: Kimberly...

She turned back and smiled then went in. I saw beyond the smile. I got in my car and screamed my head out then headed home. My mom was home. Maybe I should just take her advice on this. I got home, took a shower and went to the study

Me: Hey Mom
Mom: heard you come in baby. Thought you were headed to bed
Me : I was but I need to talk to you
Mom: is something wrong
Me: there's this girl
Mom: another girl? thought you were done
Me: I was but I don't know. she's been on my mind for a while now and she's been driving me nuts. I've told her how I feel and it's pretty obvious she feels the same way but she keeps holding back and I don't know Mom. I tried giving her space and today, I had to avoid her publicly and it didn't end well. I had to drive to her place to apologize in person but she got upset when this other girl called. She suspects she's my girlfriend
Mom: okay, hold up. First, whys there another girl calling you? Then who exactly has your heart and have you tired communicating with her aside words?
Me: the girl calling is somebody I met at Hailey's daycare and maybe she has some interests in me but I have none in her and maybe I haven't passed that message clearly. Then the other girl is Kimberly Adams and yes, I already kisses her but she got upset and didn't like it
Mom: Kimberly Adams, woah, how did you guys meet?
Me: she stays on this street and well she attends west Willows
Mom: okay, but I think if you haven't given her the impression that this other girl was your girlfriend, she wouldn't have had it baby
Me: I don't know what to do
Mom: try by starting to win her the normal way. Flowers, chocolates, dates, dinners, gifts. Girls love those type of stuffs. Calls, texts, walks and attention
Me: well, I'm out of ideas so I'll take yours

She hugged me and went to bed. I went to my room and pulled out my phone. She was still active on whatsapp. I texted her

Me: still up?

She replied immediately

Kim: yep
Me: why
Kim: well, my mom won't leave me alone. She and Jayden are bugging me

Kimberly's POV

Jayden: ouu she's texting him again

My family could be pretty annoying

Me: can you leave my room now?
Jayden: no way
Mom: so how long have you been seeing each other?
Me: since never Mom. He's just my classmate, nothing more. Besides, I think he likes someone else and not me
Jayden: that's impossible
Me: it's not
Me: so why did he come here this late to apologize then?
Me: I don't know. Ask him

I said standing up and moving to my closet. I had a shower and changed into something more comfortable. My phone beeped. I rolled my eyes and got dressed and got back on my bed, in the middle of both Jayden and my Mom
Nicholas: why are they bugging you?
Me: because you came over to apologize. They think there's something between us
Nicholas: lol, you should tell them you turned me down
Me: I didn't say no exactly
Nicholas: you didn't say yes either but it's cool
Me: it is?
Nicholas: yeah, you shouldn't have to believe you hear
Me: uhh, okay
Nicholas: so when are you leaving for Australia
Me: Monday morning
Nicholas: that soon?
Me: I'll be back by Sunday
Nicholas: I know

That text felt incomplete but I didn't ask for the rest

Nicholas: you should get some rest
Me: you too

I turned off my screen and slept off. I woke up. It was almost 1 in the afternoon. I stayed bed till I felt like I was going to die of hunger. I decided to stay off my phone because of any article that might have been published overnight. Sunday came fast. Thanksgiving, yes I did go to church. My mom wouldn't let me stay home. From church, she went to work. Jayden drove me home and I got into the kitchen, trying to make Thanksgiving dinner. After stuffing and grilling the turkey, I prepared everything else. When it was almost 6, I collapsed on my bed. I was so tired. I slept off. Jayden woke me up when it was seven. I got dressed in a grey fitted dress and let my hair down. Immediately after the main meal with Jayden and Tasha who I increasingly despised now, my phone rang. I picked up

Me: Yo
Nicholas: are you still coming for desserts?
Me: I can't. I'm sorry
Nicholas: oh, that's fine
Me: I could come over after dinner and we could take a walk but right now, I'm stuck with my brother and her
Nicholas: his girlfriend?
Me: yeah
Nicholas: why the distaste
Me: that's a long story
Nicholas: I should let you go then
Me: I'll see you later

I hung up and sighed. I watched how Tasha and Jay talked and laughed and ate. It was a beautiful sight but I wasn't buying it it. She was fake, very fake. Why sleep with Jayden? A lot ran through my head. I was so dep in thoughts that I didn't realize that Jayden was talking to me

Jayden: Kim?

I blinked

Me: sorry, what?
Jayden: was asking if you wouldn't mind ice cream
Me: uh, I'll pass actually. I have to go now. I'll be back later, excuse me

I stood up from the table and grabbed my phone then headed out to Nick's place.
