I actually had an idea of my own after seeing a story on FanFiction.Net about Subaru having Cappy from Mario Odyssey as a companion, and their dynamic was very cute and funny. Subaru also had a whole arsenal of every single Mario power up in the Mario franchise.
Literally, he would literally open up his own menu that had every power up. And I don't think anyone but him could see it. Hell, even the star power up was in it. And the best part was that Subaru didn't even die on the first arc, because he literally obliterated Elsa! That's right! I said it!
He literally OBLITERATED Elsa! The god damn Bowel Hunter! With the star power up, and he punched her right through the stomach. Kinda broken don't you think? But yeah, this idea came up and to be honest, I'm actually kinda digging it. And with the new Mario Movie coming out soon, we'll see what happens. What do you guys think?
