I want a father that asks me how my day was
I want a father that tells me how he grew up
I want a father that likes that I look like him
I want a father that loves that he's a girl dad
I want a father that genuinely seems interested in my well being
I want a father to talk to
I want a father, that is just here
Here for me
Here for my protection
Here even when I don't need him
Why aren't you here ?
If I were to ask you, could you give me a reason why ?
A real reason why
I try to ask my mom but when I do
The look of heatbreak returns
And again, I'm stuck with lingering
Unanswered questions
I hate being in the unknown
And I hate not nowing you
Tell me dad, why aren't you here ?
