Wrench seems pretty confident on the outside, but really he's quite insecure.
A lot of people have complimented his appearance, often people he's had one night stands with have said that he looks hot with his blue eyes and light brown/dirty blonde hair, but his wine stained birthmark on the right side of his face makes him feel ugly.

Half of him doesn't care what people think, hence why he expresses himself with tattoos and his punk rock style, plus his outfit to Swelter Skelter was fairly revealing...
However, the other half feels judged by everyone, it's another reason why he wears the mask. After being picked on in school for his birthmark he decided to hide it away.
If Wrench ever took his mask off in front of you, it means he trusts you and feels comfortable in your presence.
