It had been awhile since Kevin saw Streber since the day he lost his arm. He had been anxious and worried with the same question that kept popping up in his mind constantly,
"Is he going to be okay? Will he die?" His swarming thoughts plagued him everyday with little to no reassurance from anyone. It wasn't until he was working at the candy
club one day when he got a call.
"Hello, this is Kevin, yes? Streber has woken up, he asked we inform you," The person on the other end spoke and Kevin was ecstatic, he turned to his co-worker, Rick.
"Hey, Rick? Can you cover my shift for some time?" Kevin quickly spoke; before Rick could object, Kevin was out the door.
"..I hate this job. I quit,"
-----
Kevin arrived at the hospital and walked up to the front desk, hoping he could just see Streber even if for only a few minutes. The person behind the desk told him the
room Streber was in and gave him the okay to see him. He walked as fast as his legs would take him. He looked at the door with a nervous smile. Behind that door, Streber
lay. With a shaky hand, Kevin opened the door. Streber looked over, a smile formed when he saw Kevin.
"Kevin.. you came," Streber had a weak smile on as Kevin walked over to sit in one of the provided chairs.
"Of course I came, because it's you," Kevin looked terrible. He hadn't slept properly since that fateful day and he hadn't been taking care of himself properly, he just
wanted Streber to be okay. Streber noticed this.
"Kev, have you been doing okay without me? Have you been taking care of yourself?" He asked quietly, Kevin avoided the question.
"I just want you to be okay, Strebs." Kevin looked at Streber with sincere eyes, "How is.. your arm?"
Streber looked at his arm, it was missing, "Well, it isn't there anymore. Guess next year I can be a zombie instead?" He joked, trying to lighten the mood, Kevin cracked
a small smile, "Yeah, maybe.." Kevin wiped any tears that escaped. He was so happy Streber was alive and well. All those nights he spent worrying that Streber would make
It was all for nothing because he was here. Laying in a hospital bed making jokes even in the situation in which his arm is gone. Even after all he has gone through, here
he was laughing and smiling.
"I'm going to be released soon," Streber broke the comfortable silence.
"Good, I'm glad. When you get out we can do some star gazing, maybe watch a movie?" Kevin smiled sadly, still worried about his little bat.
"Yeah.. yeah that sounds nice. It'd be nice to have an outing with little candy boy," Streber smiled, "Maybe it would be good to get used to not having an arm first, hehehe.."
Kevin smiled at Strebers enthusiasm, "Can't wait,"
-----
That was a few days ago. Streber and Kevin were sitting comfortably at home watching a movie under a weighted blanket together. Streber held Kevin with his remaining hand
while Kevin rested his head on Strebers.
"Kev look, a bat," Streber smiled while Kevin laughed quietly.
"Yeah, this is a movie about bats,"
"They're cute,"
"You're cuter,"

They spent the rest of the night chatting and enjoying the movie. Even if Streber didn't look like everyone else did, Kevin would love him no matter what and would never
leave his side.
