S1E6 Rebooted: The Emerald Forest

I.C.-0n looked around at the hoard of Beowolfs and Ursa that now surrounded her. They growled and roared as a black liquid began salivating from I.C-0n's maddening grin. With only a cackle for warning, she jumped at a random member of the crowd and started her game, transforming Crescent Rose into its scythe form and using her claws in tandem to mow the Grimm down.

"Woohoo!" She yelled out in excitement, before Yang sidelined one of the Ursa as she made her entrance. "Hey, Yang! Here to join i-" *SMACK* "Oi! Was zur Hölle!" Ruby shouted at Yang, after the latter had smacked her on the head. This didn't halt the fight, however, as the two siblings simply continued to fight as they talked.

"I.C-0n, do you not remember the thousands of times Ironwood told you not to pull this shit?!"

"I'm sorry, okay?! You know what happens when I see Grimm!"

"Still, what would of happened if someone saw yo-" Just as Yang got distracted with arguing against her sister, an Ursa managed to cut some of her hair off. The whole battle seemed to freeze in place. "..."

"Oh no..."

"Oh you mother fucker!" Yang bellowed out in rage as she delivered a combo of devastating blows to the Ursa, ending by smashing it through a dozen or so trees as it turned to dust.

"Wow, I see my mannerisms are starting to rub off on you, huh?" Ruby teased as she blasted through several Beowolfs with Cresent Rose's laser.

"Oh, shut it Ruby." Yang retorted with a slight laugh in her voice, earning a similar laugh from Ruby.

After killing a few more Grimm, the entire hoard had been defeated, causing Ruby to bounce up and down in celebration. "Killing things will never get old!"

"You mean Grimm, right?"

"Yeah, sure, why not."

"Anyway... Which way is north exactly?"

"One sec!" Ruby rose a finger into the air, as a miniature map and compass appeared in her eyes. After a few seconds, she pointed dramatically in the direction of due North. "That way!"

"Why thank you my over engineered compass." Yang applauded with a smirk.

"Hey, I'll let you know that I'm a perfectly designed and trained weapon of mass destruction...! With a compass!"

Returning to Jaune and Pyrrha, the two suddenly hear excessive gun fire as they were making their way through the forest.

"Did you hear that?" Jaune inquiried.

"Shotgun and laser fire." Pyrrha confirmed. "It seems some of our comrades have encountered the enemy." The two of them continued walking, until a twig that Pyrrha had moved out of the way smacked into Jaune's face. "Jaune! I'm sorry!"

"Heh, it's okay. Just a scratch." He reassured Pyrrha as he stood back up.

"Why didn't you activate your Aura?"

"Huh?"

"Your Aura."

"Sorry?"

"Jaune." Pyrrha stared him dead in the eyes. "Do you... Know what Aura is?"

"Pfft, of course I do! Do YOU know what Aura is?" He asked nervously.

"Aura is the manifestation of our soul. It bears our burdens and shields our hearts. Have you ever felt like you were being watched without anyone ever being there?"

"Uh... Yeah."

"With practice, our Aura can be our shield. Everyone has it, even animals."

"What about monsters or robots?"

"No, the monsters we fight and the robots we build lack souls. They are creatures of Grimm and beings of metal. The manifestations of anonymity. The Grimm are the darkness, we are the light."

"Right, that's why we fight them."

"It's not about why; it's about knowing. Understanding both dark and light helps us manifest our Aura. Everyone has some of both. By baring our soul outward as a force, you can deflect harm. All of our tools and equipment are our conduits for aura. You project yourself and your soul with fighting."

"... It's like a forcefield!" Jaune said excitedly.

"Yes, if you wanna look at it that way." Pyrrha said, laughing a little. "Now, close your eyes and concentrate."

"Uhh... okay."

Pyrrha put her hand upon Jaune's cheek as both of them began to glow their respective colours. "... For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we will become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all, infinite in distance and unbound by death, I release your soul, and by my shoulder protect thee." She cited, slouching over a bit afterwards.

"Pyrrha?"

"It's alright. I used my aura to unlock yours, but the power that protects you now is your own." Pyrrha reassured. And with that, Jaune's scratch healed over. "You have a lot of it."

"... Wow..."

As this was happening, Ren had just finished defeating a King Taijitu, a massive double sided snake that seemed to resemble our own Ying and Yang symbols. As he was brushing himself down, Nora swung down from the tree tops, making cawing noises as she did..

"I'm still not sure that's what sound a sloth makes." Ren commented, chuckling a bit before he was brutally booped on the nose by Nora.
